Whenever I try to join a server I get an "Online Terminated" message and I cannot join the server. I have forwarded the needed ports, uninstalled the demo, uninstalled and reinstalled RWR and checked that RWR is allowed through the firewall, but it is still impossible to join a server. Does anyone now how to fix this? It gets lonely playing by myself.

I was asking in IRC if you were ever able to play online yet but you timed out, so here my question again.
And what version do you have?

I've got version .90 and I haven't ever been able to play online.

it might not connect with first try, attempt to connect multiple times. It also might be that server is not updated. I played multiplayer with one number older version of rwr. Also problem could be your internet

Desura has .90, so I can't update to .91, and the only .91 server is beerdrinkers. Does an extremely high ping cause disconnects?

No it isn't. .90 is still current.

I doubt this is it, but you can't join a server if you've launched the game with debugmode parameter.

Extremely high ping could potentially cause the connection to fail, haven't been able to try it myself but anything's possible. If the connection terminated message comes in a split second without stalling the game noticeably, it's probably not that. The ping would also need to be above 1000ms for that to happen, I'd say.

I'd still keep my finger pointed at firewall or antivirus or similar, most of the time it's these buggers. Also you only should need port forwarding to host a server, not for joining a server, but it certainly won't matter.

I don't think it's a firewall blocking me, since I don't have one on my computer or the router. It might be the ping, since the game does freeze for a split second before the "connection established" message and then for a significantly longer time (maybe a second) after which the "Online terminated" message is given. Such a high ping really wouldn't surprise me with my internet connection.
