 Post subject: Flower BF Menu?

You know that flower menu BF2 has that lets you add some communication to the game? The one that lets you add little icons to the minimap to warn your teammates of tanks, snipers, and infantry?

Is anything like that going to happen? Just wondering.

Also, i would love you long time if you added voice comm.

First, there isn't a minimap yet, what you mean is probably the normal map. It needs to be differentiated as there might be a minimap at some point.
I suggested something similar to this "flower menu" to pasik but he wasn't too excited about that idea. Even though I started to work on a template for this last week. It would be less something that spots enemies as the map is usually too crowded anyway. It would be more a chat support, like pressing a key calls this menu, then you can choose between different chat options. Like "need pick-up" which would also interfere with the AI to pick you up with a vehicle or "need AT support". As pasik isn't a friend of menus ingame at all it would need to be kept simple, if at all ;)

It'd be very hard to communicate as people fighting on the other side of the map most likely will not be interested in what you are doing miles away.
Providing a teamspeak server might be possible if there is enough interest though.

Oh, and a solution to your problem would be to have two chats. A radio voice, and a local voice. One is for people physically near you ingame, the other for the entire team. :)

A few games use that.

But, I would think the teamspeak would be better, less things for the devs to worry about in-game and lets the community get together and chat on something other than the forums. :D

We can use teamspeak for sure, but it brings everything together nicer with ingame voip. It sucks when only 3 of 16 people can hear you haha.

Hm, Project Reality for BF2 uses it too.

Its not urgent, but ingame voice seems to be pretty mandatory these days for shooters :)

Its the kind of thing a guy would donate for.. :)

Indeed, I would donate, but seeing as how I don't have any real income, or any job.. I can't spare any money for RWR atm :c
