I found RwR at some point through TIG source, a great website for finding really cool Indie games, but anyway. At some point I ran into RwR and bought it, and so far have been playing the s*** out of the game. I love how the maps are laid out, it's so simple, the environments are different by every so "feet" and love that it isn't uniform like some games make out maps to be. I also LOVE how I die like tissue paper LOL, I normally dominate Shooters, run in, and kill everyone, or take them all with me before I die. But in this....never gonna happen lol, and I also love how if you have the machine gun you can DOMINATE groups, especially if you have the high ground or your behind a wall. Which is the way it should be, and because you can still die like a fly makes it balanced. Anyway, I can talk about this game all I want but it's not why I made this post.

I find there's two MAJOR problems, I play games on this often, and enjoy every minute of it. But I find at times there's a NEVER ENDING STALEMATE in some places. Like if you get a major battle going over water in the second map it goes no where mainly because if one sides pushes into the water, they get in the water and keep pushing. But....the other team just sits up on land and shoots them like monkeys in a barrel. And the AI don't try to go around, or...take up positions to at least shoot across the water if possible to let their team at least touch land before they die. And these stalemates tend to appear anywhere, that's just one that's....blatantly obvious. I have them at times in the center trench on the first map, or sometimes, when we finally push them back to the last capture area.

Also....AI are ridiculously selective of the human player. Scenario/Example: I'm pushing up the hill with 12 other soldiers, we all take up cover, the firefight starts before 20 rounds can be fired, off one AI picks me out fires three rounds and the next thing I know I'm the first to die. Or EX: I'm running with a squad of two other soldiers, and one enemy runs into the open as I'm running from spawn to the battle. Reality dictates that one lone enemy should be slaughtered by three soldiers, but no that one enemy AI fires three rounds and kills me first, and walks away.....

Those are my GREATEST Issues, especially the ridiculous AI accuracy, I still get it when I set AI accuracy to "-2".

Does anyone else get this often?

The water is relatively new feature and the AI can't really handle movement near water or shores yet. Even without water, stalemates happened occasionally, but I haven't seen a case which wouldn't have eventually resolved in one way or another. I can imagine the situation being worse now especially with areas separated by water.

Sometimes it's required from the player to succeed in outflanking the enemy and staying alive long enough causing mayhem to get the front line moving forwards to solve the stalemate, but I know how it can be frustratingly difficult at times. Maybe there's a connection to what you're experiencing as AI being selective of the player, so that they seem to kill the one guy who actually could solve the stalemate..

However, what comes to the selectiveness, there's no such thing by design / implementation. The AI currently isn't actually aware which soldier is controlled by the player. An AI soldier makes a few estimations about how well enemy soldiers are covered (perhaps completely out of sight) and how close they are, calculates a score for each enemy and picks the easiest target to shoot at. You aren't always the first man running in the front, right?

Anyway, I've heard someone else saying this as well in the past -- I'll try to think of what could cause it.

I can enlarge the AI accuracy range for the next build.

I understand, it's merely an annoyance I appreciate that your taking it into consideration. And I figured the AI wouldn't be aware of Human players, just it feels like when I do outflank them, and try my best to maybe grenade here, or machine gun there, or sneak around with an MP5, I always die from AI being too accurate. Maybe it's my luck lol, or other things. Who knows, the game is in it's baby stages, compared to what you want to add, I'm sure there will be hardships just like I had with Minecraft when I bought it in it's early beta lol.

Though question this kinda always intruded me. How many of you are there working on RwR?

It's just me mostly; I've had some quick help from a friend with the HUD icons, and ComJak is creating the new upcoming weapon models.

Ah, well good work man, as soon as you get some kind of major game quality going I'm sure this game will start to snowball. I have a few buds that would like to play it, but they just don't see the potential yet, game's too simple for them. Can't wait to see the next weapons, and features. Oh and there was something else, I was just recently reminded of....

How in the hell do you get mortar strikes? Is that still being tweaked? I've gone through numerous games with long drawn out battles, and I haven't died in a few pushing back with soldiers, but no mortar strikes in sight. I saw the vid with them, and makes me want to use them!

Speak of the devil as soon as I post this I get a mortar strike....irony gotta love it. Though are you rewarded them by rank? or kills? Teamwork?

You get mortar strikes every 500 points after 3000 points. Points are gained through killing enemies and lost through team kills and deaths.

so your first mortar is achieved at 3000 points, second is at 3500 points.

Sadly once you reach 10000 points you stop getting mortar strikes. :(

Yeap. since the point cap is 10,000, once you reach level 10, you can't get more points but when you die, you lose points. Then you gain those points back and can't gain anymore past 10,000. Pasik is aware of this issue and it will probably be addressed in future updates.
