Change the blues to the greens and the reds to the grey and we got a really good story without adding any elements into the game

The Blues, the ruling majority faction of their nation, are having difficulties supporting their population, because of the same reason as the Grey's are, so they are forcing rationing upon their people, afraid of civil unrest, they begin ramping up their military and police spending.
The Reds, the conglomerate of minority factions within the same nation as the Blues, feel this increase of control is oppressive, and revolt.
The Grey's see what happens between the Blues and the Reds, and take it as a sign of what is to come if they don't get their acts together. They invade the collapsed Blue nation, and begin taking what they need for survival.
The Greens, being opposed to the ideologies of the Grey's, invade Blue/Red to halt what they see as imperialism on the part of the Grey's.
The Blue's, fearing Green is supporting the Reds, begin attacking Green forces. They are also attacked though by the Grey's, who see them as a threat to their occupation
The Reds, fearing that the Grey's and Greens are going to take control of the nation, and oppress them just as they believe the Blues had, attack the invaders.
Blues and Reds are only part of a larger conflict, with Greens and Greys already established.
