I thought an interesting thing to add in 1.00 is where you are in a convoy of vehicles and have to get to a determined spot. Say on keepsake bay they have to get from one end of the map to another. The convoy could consist of a 3-4 Humvees 1-2 apcs and 1 tank (maybe) Jeeps and transport trucks. You would have to protect cargo trucks radar trucks, or prison transport (maybe multiple). the enemy could be able to ambush from Certain areas and you would have to fend them off stopping and being able to get out. It wouldn't make sense for it to have a huge amount of people on the server, but you could have ai tagging along in say a 32 player server. This is just an interesting idea/suggestion to have that if made well would be incredibly fun.

Something similar will definitely make it into the game but not sure if 1.0. Most likely sometimes later.

I'd like to work to Stop a Convoy too. It'd be fun to set an ambush!

Convoy stopping would be an awesome mode I think :D

Especially if convoy guards would be like proffesional army, while ambushers would be more like local guerilla fighters, that do know terrain well and had time to prepare ambush as they see it fit :)

I love RWR gameplay, and I don't want to lose the play style we have so far. It is SO nice to be able to just drop in and play with some friends and strangers without a big commitment to a "plan".

However I would LOVE to see this great warfare gameplay implemented in some other "mission" styles.
I think the "Final Map" has really added some nice new feel to the game, and after balancing some of the initial issues it's really come into it's own. Not as much Stealth as intended (due to lots of low ranked guys) but we've really got a handle on it now. And the firefights are way more intense!

So it'd be neat to have a few other game styles. Like a massive dedicated assault on an Enemy AI fortified position, with mortars and tows and mg nests, the whole nine yards! Or a heavy Jungle Map (Vietnam style) with a long delta we have to take the patrol boat up as our spawn point then seek and destroy enemy positions throughout the jungle using Stealth to get close then erupting into a heavy firefights. (Not taking Zones, but eliminating enemy presence in the area.)

Or a HUGE big linear field maybe 2-3 small zones wide, but lik 6-8 long. Something that mimics a straight on WWI trench fight. Head on, with a nice open no mans land between pocked with shell marks and wreckage.

(I need to learn to make maps...)

One thing I think some maps or areas could use some more preplaced MG's and stuff for the AI. It's fun when we run into a wall of fortifications and have to break through before we can roll on. Like the Tow's in the Outpost on RattleSnake Crescent. It's fun to see the Tanks hold up and let troops work their way in to take them out. Some more stuff like that on the maps would be nice. Maybe just a rare occasion when the AI would place MG's or even more rare but sometimes Mortars too.

I was thinking of it being PvP or coop but I think coop would be a bit more organized

We were targeting to add this mode in the Minimodes system, so yeah, mostly PvP, and the work on it was actually started already a while back.

Ambushers were set to win after a certain time if the Convoy fails to reach the destination. Convoy would obviously win by reaching the destination.

The predefined route would go through as many bases as possible in a mostly linear path, and all but one base would be initially owned by Ambushers. When the Convoy target vehicle would go through an enemy occupied base, the base would become captured by the Convoy and become uncapturable from that point on.

The thinking here was that when Convoy players would die, they'd respawn close to the point they already reached in their own territory.

Also if the Convoy target vehicle would be destroyed, it would be respawned in the latest base reached. Sadly, this is the part where things get a bit tricky when utilizing the automatic vehicle respawn logic in the game; the target vehicle would randomly respawn in any of the spawn points it has, or, at the very first location if there's only one spawn point. This is no good for the flow of the mode. The required logic can be created on the script side taking full control of it, it just means a work effort to be made to create it, use the generic nodes to mark the spawn points where to create the vehicle, have some info which one of them is the latest, and so on.

Without that part, the mode would already be playable. I think JackMayol already created the route and safe zones for it in Moorland Trenches.

With some simplifying, I guess the mode could also work so that once the Convoy target vehicle is destroyed, the round is over and it restarts. It would be more like that the Convoy has one shot at this, and then it's over. It would then be up to balancing with Convoy target vehicle health and number of bases it has to go through to win.

^ What about destroying a certain number of Vehicles? Like a series of Cargo Trucks moving along (combined with Armored Support). After killing a certain ratio of "target vehicles" you win. Instead of just One specific one. I've played a few RTS games that run convoys this way and it makes it easier to work to protect the whole convoy instead of just one target and ignoring all the rest. If you have 1 central target, the standard approach in PvP may just come to be hit the Main Target ignore all the rest for a quick win.

Also the main way to hit a convoy is destroy the lead and rear vehicle, hopefully near a choke point, effectively blocking a convoy in. So if the auto-convoy can handle that situation without just clustering up or behaving like idiots in a pile-up I think it would work. But, if we can just confuse them by crowding the path and hitting a single main target it may feel a little shallow.

Additionally, I think a Co-op version of this for a KOTH style map would be fun too. It seems like it'd be easier to have the players run as protection and just have the AI attack.(Is there any chance for something like this in Co-op?) It would be essentially KOTH just with a moving line of Vehicles. Perhaps setting the Convoy line parallel to the likely battle line. Example: our convoy moves West to East in the lower 1/3 of the map in a long long line. And we have to create a defensive screen slightly more North across the map, trying to keep the AI away. Lot's oh Humvees and stuff too, for all sides! The Humvee needs to see more action!

Will driving the convoy be player controlled and ai controlled so some players can drive it I was kinda hoping for a non automatic one
