Couple of ideas.
First, the ability to command individual would be nice. Could bind each one to a certain key.

Second, some way to get squad mates that will stay with you no matter what and not run off.

Third, it would be cool to be able to dig foxholes and use them as cover.

The individual control wouldn't get a chance to get used. They died way too often. But if you set yourself right and use the squad command out in front as a screen you can work as an AI conduit and they'll fill ranks from behind you as they come up and refill the forward marked position. But they will die all the time. Also check out the wiki there is a good extra Squad Command Layout for mod+command controls, I think put together by Comjak.

They don't always run off, sometimes they rush to where you are firing to flank, or spread out to take cover. They used to cluster up behind you really hard. They are there. You can double click the Squad Command to get them to rush. Again, some of the command listed on the wiki layout may help more.

I also wanted foxholes, lol. It'd be cool. But I think the best we'll get is sandbags. However the AI have gotten WAY better at placing them. And in long enough battles after a while there will be a far share of AI placed Sandbags. Now if they could just place a 2nd or 3rd next to those once and a while for a wall, that'd be cool.

I personally would like to see teh AI's place mortar's from time to time, though I doubt that will happen, anyway foxholes are a no go cause of how the mapping works, and the other two are just a matter of squad command.

I think maybe an occasional MG Nest from AI, and a super RARE placed Mortar would be cool. It'd give us more to fear. I love getting pinned down in a group by the AI in Online. So much fun to watch people try to cover each other as we get hit. Running into a couple MG's now and then could really spice it up.

They use Support Calls: WHICH IS AWESOME!

I just mean seeing them put in a few heavier entrenchments at random sometimes. You know, we crest a ridge again in Fridge Valley, it's a hard firefight across the top from tree to tree. Then another round we crest and this time there's a couple MG's and a Mortar. (Although I could see the Mortar being an issue, if they place it like Sandbags we'll knock em out often.) It could sort of "mix it up" a bit. I mean we die so often, why not by MG's and Mortars? The AI deserve the chance ;)

Or maybe just some more pre-designated spots they could place them on maps with obvious flow patterns like Rattle Snake Cresent where we always attack counter-clockwise around the map. I don't know, I always enjoy when the team gets pinned down by heavy AI Emplacements and we have to think up a new plan in the moment. Usually some calls go in, lol.
