Was looking through some of the local files for the game and i was wondering if it would be possible to add more hotkeys for more quick phrases than just the standard 5 thru just editing some simple text files. thanks :)

Here's another thread from earlier about the same thing. I think there was something said about adding another 4-5 more hotkeys. They are very useful. There is also more info on the RWR Wiki on how to set these if any one needs more info.

Good bump about the subject, had lost the task of adding more hotkey slots in the key config somewhere. Should make it to next version now!

yea i was looking through some of the files in notepad and i was wondering if i could modify it a little and get it to recognize added hotkeys (which im pretty sure) but i just went ahead and programmed some macros on my razer mouse that simulates pushing enter and inserting the phrase and enter again so actually it wouldnt matter for me :) but i still look forward to the extra hotkey support in the future. i just like to have some basic "orders" and then some extra phrases that just give the game more intensity like "EAT THIS!" when i throw a grenade and things along those lines. appreciate the feedback as always! see you guys around!

btw how do you use the hotkeys, I created a xml file named hotkeys

From the wiki
Quote:
N.B.: The Printscreen key (can't be remapped) takes a screenshot which is saved in "%appdata%\running with rifles\" <-- copy paste in your explorer.
2) for the hotkeys you need to create a file called "hotkeys.xml" and place it in "%appdata%\running with rifles\" Here is an example of such a file:

<hotkeys>
<hotkey index="0" text="enter here text for Hotkey 1" />
<hotkey index="1" text="enter here text for Hotkey 2" />
<hotkey index="2" text="enter here text for Hotkey 3" />
<hotkey index="3" text="enter here text for Hotkey 4" />
<hotkey index="4" text="enter here text for Hotkey 5" />
</hotkeys>

but it doesnt work and I want my little guy to say cheesy stuff like "oh no enemy paratroopers" and stuff like that, do you have to put a /globalsay before it or something? not sure

Did you remember to bind the hotkeys to something in the controls config?
I don't think they are bound to anything by default.

If it makes any difference, I kind a suck and don't know much about pc and files. But I just followed the instructions on the wiki, step by step. Seemed like it was just copying the text you have, editing the little message part to say what you want, and save. I think.... it was pretty easy, I was expecting lots of effort.

But these Hotkeys are unbound in the Settings Menu. And I was able to set them to my number pad, and left the number keys open on keyboard for Support Calls.
