The beta 0.4 is here! And so is pre-purchasing!

OMG GRENADE! The RUNNING WITH RIFLES beta phase starts now! When you pre-purchase the final game, you also gain access to the beta version installer download and all the upcoming updates. Note that there’s no zip-release for the beta (yet), only the installer is available.

The starting price point is 5.00 EUR (+ VAT where required). The price will move up towards the final game price gradually when new updates are released.

This is the first version that introduces the online gameplay features. For those not familiar with the game yet, basically you start or load a game, activate the server in the menu to host a game and suggest your buddies to join your game using your IP or domain and UDP port. Make sure you set your firewall to allow incoming network traffic for the UDP port you wish to use.

See the change log for detailed list of changes and new features.

There’s also a free demo based on beta 0.4 available now. It has all the features beta 0.4 has except the multiplayer stuff.

    Really disappointed.

Found this game in its last state, and was really looking forward to an update with multiplayer, was gonna get all my friends to play with me.

Been checking the website daily ever since, and I see this.

Time to remove it from favorites.

Awww, were you hoping to get ALL the perks of the latest release without paying $7 for it to help support it’s development? Here, let’s both wine about entitlement together. Awwwwwww. :*(

At first I was scared by seeing that weird site, but I quickly saw the PayPal option and was relieved. I still find this a little shady what with the personal review each purchase thing, but whatever, I’m now waiting eagerly for my download link.

    On Oscar.

What happened to people’s manners these days? Were those disparaging remarks really necessary?

If it’s been awfully long, please send me an e-mail to pasi.kainiemi@modulaatio.com with the e-mail address you used when making the pre-purchase. I can try to solve the current status of the payment.

Someone had to wait for 50 minutes for a credit card payment to get processed. PayPal with enough funds did the trick immediately and the download links were given on an after-purchase page, and the follow-up e-mail with the same info arrived in 10 minutes.

Is everything fine with my payment? Can’t wait to try that multiplayer mode…!

(how many players are allowed in one game??)

Did you receive the download link? I can see your purchase so it went through just fine. Let me know if you have problems. Thanks!

Player count in online isn’t specifically restricted, it depends on the network connections, mainly the server’s. If there are too many players in the game, the players who joined may see frequent off-sync moments or experience significant lag.

Player-vs-player can support more players than playing cooperative, as there’s no AI soldier sync to handle.
