We’ve gone alpha – 0.2 is out!

More weapons, more bases, team size control, new fog, bug fixes, AI improvements and so forth; download the alpha 0.2 here.

The detailed change log can be found on the forum once again.

Note to self: I really need to take some new videos.
Another note to self: now I really need to concentrate on implementing the online mode.

Awesome! Trying as soon as I get home! I love that you support us stealth type people by adding a suppressed SMG, this is always what I use in games!

    Can’t wait for networked version!

What software do you use to make voxel models? I want to make a model of space marine and fight with chaos, heh. Thank you.

I’m using my own voxel editor. I might release it some day if I have time to work on the tool’s usability a bit.

If there’s another voxel editor with a possibility to save to a file format someone can read, someone could possibly make a converter for the file format RWR is using. The RWR models are stored as XML files, which just define the voxel positions and colors.

Just captured the whole map, with two starting positions. Amazing and much more difficult. Throwing range was decreased, been made more realistic. But i think that light support machinegun is non-comfortable, ‘coz it’s still too hard to ‘understand’ the landscape. So u aiming to enemy and then laying down and firing behind your nose even if aim was correct when you was standing. And there is no more possibility to walk crouched.
    Thank you, man, afterall!

I couldn’t tell if there were any ‘objectives’ :\. Seems just like you’re killing the AI. Which is fine, cause I had fun with it. But waiting on the online mode… online is gonna be awesome with this game as long as there’s objectives to make the game END. :\

agreed with the online commentary. that’s where the bread and butter will be, especially if that becomes your focus during development. good work btw. keep em coming and we’ll keep spreading the word ;)

You should make it where theres multiple teams and they can declare war on eachother or be allies or peace :D
And a civilian economy in each nation where they build supplies for warfare and it could be a seperate mode “Conquest” or something :S

    Great job ! Bravo !

    A few ideas :

    -A prone key

-Choice of a class (Support, Assault, Infiltration, etc), that each AI soldier takes, defining a different behavior.
Indeed actually M240 soldiers don’t use cover properly etc. Would also make accessing some weapons better than just finding them on the field.

    -Snipers ? :D

-Limited amount of mags but realistic mags : when you reload, your mag is kept with the amount of bullets left in it.

    Yay, a new version!
Going to give it a go now.

On another note: Please do not make this game more realistic as others have been suggesting. It would completely ruin the experience.

I found that if you have one base, it gets attacked, and you die, you can’t respawn. I you try to, the game will freeze up and crash. :/

    • Posted July 22, 2011 at 20:44 | Permalink

Currently it is so that you can’t respawn in a base that is under battle. So what should happen if you only have one base left?

It wouldn’t be fair that you can keep respawning in the middle of a battle all the time immediately after getting killed, even if it’s your last base at stake.

Currently, apart from the aforementioned crash, a pre-”game over” period starts when you get killed and your last base is under attack. Your still alive AI friends will try to defend the base, and if they succeed to push the attackers away, you can then respawn again and the game continues. If they fail, the enemy conquers the area and you simply have no place to respawn — game over (though nothing yet states that the game is indeed over :) ).

Any ideas, how would you like to see it work (except fixing the crash :) )?

Now it just needs a map, a prone key, online mode, and it’ll be almost perfect. 9.5/10

To be totally perfect, the game would need a subtle way of highlighting objects that can be used as cover, like the height; some better team control options, disband/recruit/attack/cover; an ability to show who just died on the map/where you walked before you died; faster travel methods, like roads/airport; better death notifications; a way to make the characters face your mouse, for easier knifing; and it’ll be totally perfect.

Hey, I was going to make a Gameplay Music Video if you’re interested, I can post it here when its done and then you won’t have to take any new videos ^_^

That’s great, waiting for it! I might prepare myself for making a video teaser of some primitive online gaming in the meantime.
