I guess this would be mainly aimed at a modding perspective, but would it be possible to have Factions for the main groups. In more detail say the Greys have two separate factions within the Greys team, like Germany and France for instance. You choose to play as the French and have access to the FAMAS and other French weapons, where as if you chose Germans you use the G36 etcetera.

This could make campaign's a lot more fun as you could have the different factions defending different areas of maps and calling in support from each other. Would be a bit of a laugh at the very least :)

(BTW I should mention I'm useless at scripting!!!)

Just to add without cluttering up with many many threads, for the movement would it be possible to add a more FPS movement style?

For this I mean movement is translated to this:

W - Forward
S - Backpeddle
A - Sidestep Left
D - Sidestep Right

The dude on screen would be locked to looking towards your cursor position which would make moving and firing far more natural for FPS players to migrate to.

Just and idea :)

Something along these lines could be possible, at least for mods, in 0.95. The soldier groups feature is being implemented which allows you to create sort of sub factions. The groups come with their own resource settings, XP & RP distribution, models, character specs. I wasn't intending to include names in there, but might as well now that you brought up a good use case for that :) There's no way for player to choose his group, he's always in the default group. Savegame hacking can be used to work around that, probably.

Mainly this is to allow some degree of bot specialization in vanilla, so that we can have less common high ranking bots who are armed to teeth.

Thing is you already do when you drive the vehicles ;)

Driving is second nature though instead of strafe for A and D it has turn left and right. I only mentioned it as I would be intrigued to try out a different control scheme :)

Awesome to hear Pasik and thanks for the response.

How hard would it be to add in a team choice at the start of the Campaign/Map? It could give a fair bit of longevity for the base campaign too as you can play from the Greenbelts, Brownpants or Greycollars Factions that way and even choose to play whichever sub-faction you prefer :)
