Speaking of map editing, is it possible to load a modified map through overlays? If I just put it in my overlay folder it just seems load the standard map.

Maps need to be organized into packages so that they show up in the map selector menu UI.

Basically you have about 3 options with how you want to present the mod:
1) complete addon package
* create it as package, map goes there, all the assets you've got in the overlay goes there; no separate overlay needed
* player chooses to play your map in the map selector and may enable other overlay mods to play on top of it
* player can't pick parts of your package (skins/weapons/vehicles/etc) to use them in vanilla maps, unless they tinker and transform it into an overlay themselves

2) map package and asset overlay
* create the map as package
* keep other assets in an overlay
* if player wants to play the set as intended, he'll have to select the map and enable the provided overlay, among any other overlays he wishes to use
* player can play the map as if it was simply another map, with e.g. vanilla resources

3) complete addon package and asset overlay
* like 1, + additionally ship the overlay like you have been doing
* if player installs both, he can play your map as it was intended to be played with the complete set without activating the overlay
* for convenience, the player can also use the assets in the overlay to play other maps

Okay, what I wanted to do was just change vehicle spawns on existing maps. I replaced the objects.svg in the vanilla package and it doesn't seem to affect anything other than my mod, so that's good news.

No need to replace the rubber boat, a certain developer (who may or may not have posted 2 posts above mine) has been working on a gun boat.

No, the rubber boat is replaced by a little river boat. Things would get way too crazy otherwise.

Oh wow, nice.

Oh, and I'm having a bit of an issue with rotation limits for turrets. If I set a turret to be only able to aim to the rear, it still tries to have its default angle as close to 0 degrees as possible. So, the gun would have the proper rotation range, but starts off pointing off the side of the ship instead of to the rear. Is that something I can fix in any way? It's not really a big deal if I can't.
