I looked through Process Monitor and didn't found any attempts of RWR to create or open some files except xmls and saves.

I suppose you tried with rwr_config, one of the custom ones?

If you're not getting such events what I posted, CreateFile, WriteFile from rwr_config about file.txt, effectively those calls would seem to be stopped at quite an early phase, as it doesn't even end up attempting it on the OS. Well, basically same stuff should be going on for the log files and a few others in RWR game build so yah, no need to retry with rwr_config.

I wonder if it's possible that the MS Visual C++ 2008 runtime is somehow faulty on your system, it's basically that component that contains the implementation for standard C++ stuff for Windows, and the one that RWR has been made to interface with.

Installing RWR (stand-alone) should install the runtime components as well, but who knows, maybe something glitches there. I suppose you could uninstall it first, and then reinstall it. This would be the one http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... px?id=5582.

It's the one shown as selected below.

Looks like there has been updates to it ever since, so maybe not the worst idea on my part to update it in RWR as well. Although I believe the newest one available in the system will anyway get used, supposed to be compatible that way. My guess is Windows Update has been updating these for me.

Hmm ok.

And yea, I got 64-bit as well, but RWR is 32-bit for convenience, and thus needs 32-bit VC++ runtime components. Did you try to uninstall it first and reinstall it?

I failed to install 32 bit VC++ as its installer says I need x64 version.

That certainly doesn't sound right. If there's a specific error message it came with, I could google it a bit.

This isn't exactly what's going on with your system, http://se.gamersgate.com/gametutor?issue=245059, but it is related to reinstall issues with MS VC++, and the solution eventually was to disable antivirus for the time of installation (BitDefender AntiVirus specifically), and apparently the thing doesn't seem to disable itself the easy way even.

Come to think of it, any chance your antivirus software is blocking RWR itself somehow?

I have Avira antivirus - it's very odd sometimes, and there were some issues with install/uninstall. So I won't be surprised if now this is the real problem. I'll reinstall without antivirus right now.

Did you try to reinstall 32-bit VC++ runtime components while antivirus was disabled?

If it still gives you the 64-bit requirement error message, could you write it down and write it up here as it were? I'll try searching a bit with it.
