Rain puts out burning vehicles (future feature, wasn't it?) and reduces visibility. Thunderstorms also reduce visibility, but for a moment actually increase it greatly whenever lightening flashes.

I'm not sure if we're gonna go much farther than that. Rain would be easy to make with the same system and use an ambient sound that sounds like raining, but there's no way to control for how long and when the effect starts and stops, and listening it rain for a few hours could get on nerves.
Maybe rain could be used in one of those shortie 2-base maps we've got in plans for Invasion.
