Simple: Why are there no grenade crates in maps other than map1?

iirc pasik disliked how they can be used to camp a certain area by just spamming grenades left and right.

When map1 used to be the only map in existence, I'd often find myself alone far in the enemy lines. Stuck in a trench, cowardly leaning to my empty rifle as the rain drops fall down my cheeks and I am covered in mud. My mouse hand sweats and I'm shaking, seeking for a relief of the pain. Then, through the atmosphere and smoke, through the miserable battlefield full of fallen comrades, I'd see a grenade crate. And I'd conquer the base solo.

A crate of grenades was more effective than mortar strikes.

It is, just modify the map - but that would only work in SP.
