OK I'll stop spamming the board with my love of the new gun after this...

The new Famas gun is so much fun.

I hated the sniper rifle and the shotgun because they were so slow. They forced a "hide behind walls" or "stay prone in the grass" stealth approach. *stifles yawn*

The Famas lets you run around *and* be stealthy.

It's accurate, like the sniper rifle, but you don't have to spend all day loading. So you can keep running after you shoot a guy in the back, and still defend yourself if you get in a pinch. It really ratchets up the intensity of the game.

Love it! If you haven't tried it, give it a whirl. I expect it will change the dynamic of online games...

(Not that it will do JackM any good. With or without the Famas, you're mine!)

Glad you like it! I haven't gotten too used to the burst mode weapons yet - I'm past the first impression of eww wtf to wow this actually pretty cool - but in my case M16 was the one I actually started doing some damage (read: luck boost)

In the end though, I still seem to be coming back to G36 or M240. You can't teach an old dog new tricks I guess

The repeat-tap-to-fire-full-auto with burst weapons needs to go though, it's just sitting there to get exploited.

I too like the M16 better. My playstyle went from 3-round bursts with the AK to 3-round bursts with the M16, and the sudden accuracy boost raised my K/D ratio from 4 to 6. The Famas just lacks the long range power of the other assault rifles, and the MP5 was always better at close quarters than the rest of the weapons bar Mossberg.

As for the trigger tapping, I haven't found that overpowered at all. For some reason, I always have problems to actually hit anyone using it, even at point blank ranges. In fact, I had an AI stab me after depleting half a mag trying to shoot it.. twice in a single game

Speaking about the machineguns, does anyone actually use the PKM? It can't compete with M240 due to its low rate of fire, power and accuracy, and it doesn't work as an assault rifle at all. Together with the Famas it's on my "weapons-to-get-rid-of-really-fast" list.

Like I said in another post, in a recent online game there was someone (1) who was using PKM and being very effective with it. Wasn't that far I would've got a facepalm medal because of him.

The FAMAS assault rifles are built using the bullpup layout, with the magazine housing behind the pistol grip and trigger. The gun is built around the compact receiver, which is enclosed in the plastic housing. FAMAS is one of the relatively rare systems that uses a lever delayed blowback action, borrowed from the French AAT-52 machine gun, but originally invented by the Hungarian designer Paul de Kiraly prior to the Second World War, and improved by the Paul Tellie for the FAMAS rifle.

Suggestion: put the name of the gun above the ammo so I can figure out what I'm shooting with. Right now I have to wait until one of the Jacks kills me, then go back to my carcass and hover over the gun to figure out what the heck it is. I dunno if i've ever used the M16...

Memorize the sounds or the order in the all_weapons.xml (Weapon racks go in that order).
