Rather than have to remote into our dedi-box whenever we need to change anything, are there any plans for a Rcon program so we can restart maps etc from our own desktop?

And thanks again for the help getting our server up and running earlier, much appreciated!

Never heard of Rcon. The linux server build is controllable through pipes, the map rotator and invasion mode scripts use it to control the server, the server can be fed with the usual console commands and XML through the pipe.

For someone who knows his way around scripts, it would be possible to take input from practically anywhere and transform it to RWR server commands.

Here are some examples of Rcon for Battlefield 3:

http://wiki.multiplay.co.uk/BF3/RCON

It's basically a gui for the server command console that can be run remotely, but is such a handy tool for admins to have as they can run it on any machine they want and still be able to access the server and have full control over it. Some can even replicate ingame chat in real time, scores and kill messages - in fact the one for Bad Company 2 even had a real time map which showed where players were when kills were made.

From a quick glance it seems that Rcon isn't just one PC application / web based application that could be used to communicate with any Rcon supporting game server, given if the server would support a specific Rcon protocol and form of communication. It's more like a concept of controlling a server remotely.

That's all fine. In such case my previous comment answered the question, it is possible to control the server remotely, it's also possible for anyone to create the user interface or logic to do that.

The maprotator script in the server build thread has a crude example how to send commands to the server externally. It's a short hack of a script made in PHP, so it would be very straightforward to adjust to take input from web instead of randomly looping through the maps at end of battles.

The Windows specific pipe handling implementation is still missing at this time.
