I do, however love the idea of having stationary MG nests. It'd encourage more flanking, stealth, and bring a more proper use for the sniper rifle, but would also make APCs a lot more useful as they could resist the flood of bullets.
In adversary matches, this is already happening. I lost count how many times I dragged my good old M240 to the sandbag wall last Sunday and kept spraying bullets until I heard that sound as if someone sneezed, only to find myself killed due to a headshot.
Anyway, I was happy, the pieces dropped in their places: M240 on the sandbag wall bringing heavy suppressive fire keeping the front enemy away or dead and our guys trying to advance using the opportunity I was trying to create, enemy sniper on the roof I couldn't even see, me dead. People actually tried to make the best of their choices of weapons.
I personally think stationary weapons are great if they are something very different to what you can carry along, hence MG nests bad. No one would bother filling their primary weapon slot with M240, if you can just use the MG that's sitting on the wall and switch between that and your G36 at will. Shoot with the MG front, and if someone flanks, shoot at them with G36.
