To expand on the health question:
Each soldier has 1 health point. Each bullet that hits the soldier has a 50% (adjustable via mods) chance of doing 1 point of damage. If the bullet rolls damage, it will do 1 damage which results in death. Essentially, any bullet that hits the soldier can instantly kill the soldier but it can also do absolutely nothing to the soldier. This causes some soldiers to take ridiculous amounts of bullets before dying and it also causes soldiers to die on the first hit.
A health bar is not going to be a feature and the game will most likely continue using this method. Health kits are also not in the feature list.

Some guns have a higher probability of killing, too (EDIT: I think? It's been a while since I checked). Range is a factor too, since as the bullet travels the ability for it to kill sort of decays, and each gun has a different decay rate. This means stay bullets from across the map are less likely to kill you than a shotgun blast to the back of your face.
