I don't think it would be, they don't have the ability for normal grenades, they can't fire them while moving and it requires a reload, unlike normal grenades.
If that's not enough, it could be paired with an slightly underpowered AR.
I reccomend burst fire ARs. For example:
AN-94:
- Quick, fairly accurate 2 round burst. No full auto.
- Overall fire rate is slower than that of other ARs.
- Has underslung frag launcher.
- POSSIBLY: Low power scope to sight out enemies. Doesn't provide as much scope bonus as a sniper
M16A2:
- 3 round burst, less accurate than the AN-94.
- Overall fire rate is slower than that of other ARs, not quite as slow as the AN-94.
- Has underslung smoke launcher.
- POSSIBLY: Low power scope to sight out enemies. Doesn't provide as much scope bonus as a sniper.
I think having these would provide a good bridge between the current ARs and the sniper rifle, as well as providing interesting possibilities. Players using the above two weapons would have lessened assault capabilities, especially in closer combat yet would still be effective.
Two types like this would also keep with pasik's two-for-each-type rule.
(With tactical mode, launchers could be paired with any AR for an additional points cost.)
