Right now, weapons can either be fired while standing and walking or only while prone. According to my completely unqualified opinion , it shouldn't be too hard to at least add support for weapons that can be only fired while crouching or weapons that can only be fired while standing still.

I was thinking of sniper rifles and light machine guns. On a related note, what do you all think about being unable to crouch or go prone with certain weapons, like a minigun?

I don't think there'll ever be portable-miniguns in RWR vanilla anyway
I like the way it it right now with the weapon balancing (I'll have to investigate a bit into the mp5 though, then the nerf seems to be quite harsh, but since I didnt play mp5 since ages till yesterday I'll have to play it again to be sure).
Having to stand still to shoot with the sniper doesn't sound bad to me. The "holding-breathe"-time should be pretty short though since else the sniper may be pretty useless.

It should depend on the weapon. an RPG-7 or LAW is a "light" rocket that could allow more movement, while heavier weapons require that set up or positioning.

M72 and RPG-7 are actually very different kinds of weapons. M72 and RPG-18 etc. would be light weapons, while RPG-7 and SMAW or MAAWS would be more accurate comparisons I think. In any case, these weapons can be fired from standing or prone, but it's generally easier to fire while crouched. Firing while standing up requires you to brace yourself (I.E. not move around) or else you'll get knocked onto your back, and firing while prone requires you to lay down at a somewhat awkward angle to prevent hurting yourself with the backblast.

Really though, I can't think of any weapons that are designed to only be fired while crouched. I don't doubt that they exist, I just can't think of one.

Perhaps make it so machineguns/automatic rifles can be fired prone/using bipod for maximum effectiveness, but can be first crouched with severely reduced accuracy and increased recoil. That might remove the downsides to having a weapon like that though, since right now the AR's are used for fire superiority during a firefight, not for clearing around corners and CQB.
