Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope this has been posted yet.

I would love it if certain weapons modified the character's speed. That way, a character carrying a heavy weapon like the M240 would move and carry out actions slower. He would be less nimble and thus more vulnerable. It would be simplest to have a single multiplier but I would prefer having a multiplier for each action to give modders more freedom.

Some extra health or speed while carrying a shotgun, or faster bullet speed with a sniper might also be nice.

Bullet speed modifying for different weapons isn't possible yet. I discussed it with pasik already as we were working on the sniper since the sniper bullet could be faster.
Some extra health has been considered as well, even though every soldier has only 1 health for now. One shot that hits = death.
We were discussing about special AI units which would need more than one hit to die, something like a miniboss ;)
Movement speed wouldn't be bad, not sure on this if this could be implemented without too much hassle, code-wise.
The difference wouldn't be huge though, like 10-20% difference between fastest movement (SG) and slowest movement (MG240)

Mainly the reason why weapons don't affect soldier speed is the AI. Currently, the squad leading AI doesn't do any checks if the rest of the squad is keeping up with him.

It wouldn't be an awfully difficult thing to add, both the speed multiplier and the AI behavior, but it would take some time and I'm concentrating on something else now.
