Sup. So I played the demo, purchased the game and have been playing around with the demo a little more while waiting for my order to go through (the wait is killing me by the way) and I've got to say, I really enjoy it so far. There is one major gripe I have about it though. It's really easy to lose track of your position in the heat of combat, especially when you're running around with other soldiers. I know there's an indicator ring around the base of your character but it's extremely easy to miss, especially during the day time when it tends to blend in with the terrain. I've got a similar problem with the crosshair. Again, I know there's an indicator but like the character indicator, it's pretty easy to miss. So I was thinking of going with something like this. As you can see, there'd be a small arrow pointing down at your character. It's noticable but not too distracting. Likewise there's a sort of x through the crosshair to show that your line of fire is blocked.

In addition, you could have a sort of height indicator to show whether your line of fire is blocked due to the terrain being higher or lower.

So say you're fighting on a hill where it's kind of difficult to tell which part's higher and which part's lower. If your line of fire is blocked due to being on the higher end of the slop, you'd get the first crosshair indicator. If it's blocked because you're at the bottom of the hill and you're trying to aim at the top of the hill but your line of fire is blocked, you'll get the second crosshair indicator.

Yeah I know the indicators themselves look kind of shitty, but they're more to give you a general idea of what I was thinking with them as opposed to what they'd actually look like.

In another thread I suggested that to one side of the crosshair a bar raises and lowers along a semicircle (If anybody has played The Specialists mod for Half-Life then it would be like the stunt meter). If the circle is in the middle it's level terrain, and higher means higher etc. It would be nice to somehow implement a way to determine how far you have to move in order to have a line of fire, though I'm not sure how that would work. On rooftops I like being able to stand up to shoot then crouch down to avoid incoming fire, but it's a little tricky to know when you're safe or not.

The bar idea actually sounds a lot better considering you could just use that to gauge the difference in height between your current position and the position you want to fire at.
