Just played earlier today, what are the current settings? Cause I noticed that me and a few friends of mine were raging a bit throughout the game. However, the day before that we were doing alright. Might be we just sucked the next day, or something else.

The settings are still the same than the last I posted. If it ever changes, then me or DocStone will post the new settings here.

Those are:

$enemy_ai_accuracy_factor = 0.95;
$player_ai_compensation_factor = 1.1;
$player_ai_reduction = 1;

While looking the optimal (SAS)settings it seems to me that if there are too many players at once(e.g. 33 right now), it is a suicidal gaming - you can't do nothing more than just try to stay alive. Is there any possibility to create/add a formula or dependency in order to limit the enemy AI's? Like if players are more than Nth number then the player_ai_compensation_factor to be reduced to 1 or something like that.
Just trying to say that if 90% are newbies then the chances for playing and surviving are highly lowered. It becomes a bloody madhouse and all tactics, attempts to sabotage, stealth etc. going to hell.

That's tweakable, but I guess +30 players starts to be on the higher limit anyway for a meaningful Invasion experience. That means +30 friendly attackers which is probably more than what AI ever does in single player for a single faction with any sort of default settings.

What I'd suggest actually would be to set a max player count on the server, maybe around 25.

33 and more sounds like these guys should be playing Minimodes, Deathmatch or Classic, or just you know, play different Invasions.

Having said that, this player overflow actually makes a very good reason the profile sharing servers should still be a thing, even if it meant that server modding would be completely disabled for these servers and they would need to be exact copies of each other. You could then just join another similar server if some of them are full and keep playing your single profile you've invested so much in. Funny how this was never raised up as a point when discussing about profile sharing, hmm.

Yea, pasik, this idea sounds very reasonable.

Well, currently SAS is down. Think that the server been overloaded..... looks too many FNGs at once is over the DocStone's hardware limit :P

I'm new and played today and there were a lot of players (~25) - it seemed really hard but I could just suck at the game.

I think it's worth looking at though as I hope the game becomes more popular but if it doesn't scale well to large numbers of players and their first experience is an awful one then the retention rate will be poor.

It is worth to notice that SAS Invasion is deliberately set up more difficult than Invasion servers by default, also means it is more difficult than the single player campaign on Hard difficulty preset.

As such SAS Invasion is targeted more to what you might call veteran players, but it's true a lot of newcomers go there too given how it's the single most occupied server most of the time. So even if I'd advice newcomers to play on the easier servers, they wouldn't :)

Last days I noticed that I avoid playing in the SAS server due all those newbies so.....

I really welcome and I'm glad to see in game all those new players, I know we were all beginners at some point, but if/when 20-30 of them join to SAS at once, then the whole meaning of the game goes to the dogs!
e.g. PVP servers are the ideal solution for such players, but what could be done about? ....or some means/tool/script or something for auto reduction of the player_ai_compensation and player_ai_compensation_factor, frankly, have no idea....
I see the situation is delicate, but also seems we have an urgent need for appropriate solution(if there's one) concerning the huge number of newcomers to the SAS Inva.
Hope there'll be a suitable one!

The profile sharing thing for exactly matched servers + setting a max player cap is my current favorite solution to this which I could start to work on as soon as we get 0.98.8 out, next week likely. With some luck, the profile sharing system might be in place for 0.99 during December.

Great, thanks in advance to all of you guys! I really hope it will be done asap.....

As a example: played so far, was wounded and no one among ~10 players did not helped me, although I cried desperately "help!" They just ran past me, shooting, dying and their medpacks fell on the ground.
Nothing more to say for the current SASNewbies Invasion status....... :(
