yes, monsteri, you can analyze each map, talk about specific squad tactics/weapon tactics. This is just for newbies :D

You should really explain the options available when starting a new game. Inspired by this thread. Also, I have some questions about this part:

It is generally frowned upon to start at a rank higher than 1.

Since when? I assumed that everybody would start at rank 7 since the option is there and is available to everyone. How many people do you mean by generally and why rank 1 specifically? Did some survey happen that I wasn't aware of?

Yes i forgot to mention the new server settings about starting rank and what not.

During most games I played at the time, when someone would join in as a rank 7, it was seen as a newbie thing to do because it grants you access to mortars and squads without truly fighting your way to the top. It's not as much of a problem as before but it was generally frowned upon to my knowledge.

Agreed, it was frowned upon :) A competitive match where people start with different statuses doesn't really click, but yeah, I'm not saying it was obvious what was the preferred starting rank.

As there was no way to enforce it on the server previously, it was expected (at least by me too) that players would start from 0 to put their skills to test. Even when playing single player I always thought people start from 0 rank "to see it all" unless they're experimenting with a specific thing or just want a quick match. The game's anyway more about the journey to the higher ranks than getting to be there for extended periods.

Nowadays the server can set the cap for the initial rank, so now everyone get to start from the same line if that's what's wanted.

@pasik and Comjak

Thanks, I had no idea. I only played from rank 0 once for the novelty of it. Since having a higher rank can only be an advantage, I couldn't see why anyone would handicap themselves by weakening the tactical part of the game.

haha once again, this wasn't a huge issue because most of these high rankers were newbies and thus died easily :) and now this isn't ever going to be an issue so I'm glad pasik fixed this.
