I'm trying to make a melee weapon but the model isn't always oriented properly ingame. Sometimes it's turned backwards or to the side in relation to where the soldier is facing. Is there a way to fix this?

Hmm.. by "melee weapon" do you mean you're replacing the knife bound with stab key or making a primary/secondary weapon using similar methods as with medikit?

Did you enable one hand carry on it like with medikit? Medikit seems to behave fairly ok, except that there are some cases related to switching weapon by pickup/equip/swap that make the old carry mode stay on making the medikit carried wrong in animations, usually it fixes itself by pressing shoot or how was it.

If you look at how medikit was modelled, you can see it is tilted up to make it align in 90 degree angle with carrying arm, so you may need to consider that with the model.

Can you post screenshots? Have you noticed if the rotation is incorrect in a specific pattern or is it random? Usually rotation issues in RWR seem to be related to where the soldier is facing.

It is incorrect in a pattern. Whenever I rotate the character, the axe rotates as well.

It's a seperate weapon, not a replacement of the knife model.

Does this apply to two-handed weapons?

It does, if you are switching between with a two handed and single handled weapon.

Seems your case is one of those rotation bugs that are still in there, making the guy look in specific rotation changes the weapon rotation awkwardly. There's nothing you can do to fix it I'm afraid.

That's too bad. Will this bug be fixed in a later version? Is there a way to work around it now?

It'll be fixed if there's going to be a weapon model in vanilla that doesn't align itself correctly in a pose. Having said that, it's possible M240 and PKM already rotate incorrectly when held against chest when being still.
