I was imagining multiple faction gameplay.Sure Green and Gray are fun colors,But is there any chance of more. For example when you go to "Start a new game",You are able to choose which color you want to play as.But is there any possibility of adding a "Enable/Disable" Faction selection. For example There would be 2 new factions(Red/Blue) And next to each available faction(Green/Gray/Blue/Red) Would be a "Enable/Disable" choice. This could be modded but i thought it would be a fun addition to the game.Or instead of Those four colors mentioned earlier for the "enable/Disable" Next to that would be a color selection with the basic colors (Black/White/Gray/Blue/Red/Green/Yellow/Orange/Purple/Pink/Brown) So you can have a more colorful(No homo) battlefield. |

I think the factions are based on real life, so a Red faction (USSR/Russia) is likely to be added. |

I posted something about this waaaaaaaay back... ...found it. OzyThesage wrote: I am partial to green, so I pick the goodies. However, I don't think it's proper to call one side good and the other side bad. Instead they should be something like the eagles and the hawks, or something similarly cheesy. What would make this game interesting is if two more sides came into the fight... 4 sides all fighting for victory... imagine if they all contested the center of the map... Using real weapons is fine, but I really don't think the factions themselves should represent real countries. Besides, these days everybody wears camouflage so if two factions were fighting in the woods they'd probably be wearing woodland camouflage, which would make them both look green. Anyways, I do agree that having more factions added in would be interesting, I'm just not sure how it should be decided how many factions are in a match. Should it be purely based on which map you're playing, or should it be something you can set in the server options? I'd also like to point out there's a reason that games like to choose red and blue as their opposing sides. Red and blue are both somewhat 'opposite' colors in that blue is generally a 'cool' color while red is a 'warm' color. On top of that, the most common color blindness (I think?) is red-green color blindness, so red and green factions would look identical to somebody with that kind of color blindness. Team Fortress Classic had red, blue, green, and yellow teams. Which colors should RWR use? |

Support for multiple factions is coming, it's coming right next after I've got the jeep and bazookas up to a level I'm satisfied for a while. I'll start by introducing a third faction with brown soldier skins, most likely with French names as the game seems to be fairly popular in France! ![]() ![]() I'm going with brown color for the same reasons there are already green and grey, the color has some qualities of blending into the background and it's a familiar color people associate with soldier uniforms easily. While you might argue that it's not making it any easier for the player to spot the enemies comparing to e.g. red or blue, I think the choice of colors are justified for enhanced atmosphere -- on the line between realistic war simulation and team sports game, RWR is somewhere in the middle a tiny bit more towards the war side, so compromises need to be made (distinguishable skins, but not THAT distinguishable). The factions in RWR don't really represent real countries as such, but to give it a little more separation between factions, the soldier names are based on the top 100 first & last names from real countries, namely USA and Germany currently. It's a minor detail really, but I personally find it a fun little thing. When creating a new game, you'll be able to choose which factions are included in the battle. Later when content packages are coming, the content package provider i.e. map maker can define a default way to play a map, e.g. the way it's supposed to be played. |

blue wouldn't be bad either, a pale blue, something like #6C8FBE (be the biggest geek alive and guess what color it is only by the html code lol) Well here you can check what color it is: http://html-color-codes.info/ It is just an idea but blue and red doesnt need to be basic colors imo. |

Simply because he did not feel like making an entire new culture for basing names on. |
