I almost exclusively use Linux, but I switched into Windows for a while yesterday to try out RwR and man, I love it so far; and this was just the 0.4 demo.

So I'm sure this isn't the first time someone has suggested it, but I think you'd get a pretty big audience from the Mac & Linux crowd. Any possibility for a port? What is RwR written in?

It's written in C++ with OGRE for graphics, OIS for input, OpenAL for audio, ENet for networking, I think I saw this somewhere....

Edit: added more detail, and yes, I saw this in about..:D

It is very possible to implement a Linux/Mac port thanks to the cross-platform libraries RWR utilizes, and it's highly likely the port will be made next spring.

I have reports from a couple of nice fellows that RWR, as it is, should be playable on Wine and CrossOver, but I don't have the details on how to do it. I only have a headless Linux server myself currently, so I can't really test drive anything with graphics.

That's very encouraging, pasik. You can count on me buying a couple extra copies when the port comes out. ;)

Also, you should try to contact the humble bundle folks when the ports are almost ready; they love to release newly-ported games, and it's probably the best publicity you can get.

Hello,

I just purchased running with rifles and I have it working on OSX 10.7.3 using wineskin.

* Wrapper Version: Wineskin 2.5.5
* Engine: I had issues with mouse movement in WS9Wine1.5.2. WS9Wine1.4NoXInput2 solved those.

There's a forum-thread about similar mouse movement issues over at WineHQ: see:http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?p=73417&sid=5e7bab40ba97289206e0b0108cc33cc0

Installed Winetricks:

d3dx9_36
dirac
ffdshow
I3codexx
vcrun2008

Current screen options:

Automatic
I chose a native resolution in runningwithrifles config (also 32bit, no vsync).

Windows EXE:

/Program Files/Running with rifles/rwr_config.exe

I had to disable v-sync to get the game working. Mouse movement is captured correctly in the WS9Wine1.4NoXInput2 engine but still a little slow. Very much playable though.

I got it working through wine directly with the same winetricks, i've tried with WineSkin like you but it's unplayable, mouse is absolutly messed up and i got some graphical glitches.

Under wine, it's pretty good, just the mouse wich is very slow (as you i think) even with max sensivity. Maybe with some tricks on the mouse input will mke it better.

EDIT: Actually, it works only while launching from the installer (don't ask me why... :( )

I changed engines from WS9Wine1.5.2 to WS9Wine1.4NoXInput2 and the mouse is working OK now. Still a little slower than on my Windows machine but very playable. I had some graphical glitches but those are gone after switching my Wineskin screen options to automatic and choosing a native resolution (and 32bit colours). I'll try without wineskin later to see if that makes any difference for me. Bottom-line is I can play this game is OSX now. :D

EDIT: running in a window solved all mouse lag.

Yeah, it works as you say, but the mouse is not captured in the window, did you get the same?

After switching to the NoXInput2 engine the mouse is captured perfectly for me.
