Some online suggestions!

-Choosing bot count.

[From 0-???]

-Game modes.

1] Ambush (ONLY WHEN VEHICLES ARE ADDED)

* - Goodies (Or Baddies)' convoy is moving through the desert. They have jeeps, and they're transporting supplies.
The route is full of curves, and it's 3km until the destination.
The supply truck is cruising at moderate speed.
Goodies (Or Baddies) are placed around the cover which will be all around the road.
This means rocks, trees, small buildings, destroyed vehicles.

You get the point, ambushers respawn whereas the convoy people don't.
So, yeah.
If the ambushers don't destroy the convoy until it reaches the destination, they lose.
IF the ambushers kill the convoy guys, they win.

2] Capture the Flag

* - Simply, a flag is placed at the middle of the map, both sides fight for it.

3] King of the Hill

* - So, soldiers spawn near a hill. They climb up onto the hill and battle for the flag on top. (Rounds: 10/20/30/60 minutes)
FOR EXTRA FUN: Knives only.
* - When the timer hits 0, the side who was on top of the hill most of the time wins.

4] Deathmatch (FREE FOR ALL)

* - No goodies, no baddies. Everyone is on his own!

5] Team Deathmatch

* - Goodies vs Baddies - RwR style! (Death counters, both teams have the right to get killed 200 times. Once they die 200 times, they lose. As in, 0 - 0 means that nobody died. 1 - 0 means that one of the Goodies died. . . you get the point.)

6] Conquest

* - Just like singleplayer, except some bots are replaced by human players.

7] Howzat! (VEHICLE GAME MODE)

* - Vehicle-only game mode. Massive tank battles.

Any other suggestions?

I really like these!

Ambush seems like it'd be difficult to implement, though.

The others seem really fun/simple to code, and add a lot of fun without much hassle.

Sounds good!

Ambush probably would be difficult, but I can imagine it being awesome :)
I can see deathmatch getting pretty insane, especially on a smallish map.
I'm not sure how 'Howzat!' would work, does the game suddenly become a 'world of tanks' style shooter? Would you spawn as a vehicle instead of a soldier or there's just a bunch of tanks at each base for you to take. Still, sounds good, reminds me of that tank battle in the battlefield 3 gameplay demo :D

You'd spawn as a tank.

Cool, though I keep imagining the tank having eyes and a mouth :)
I can't wait to see what he/they does/do with vehicles in the game.

Most of these game types seem like a given, except for Ambush and Howzat.

I would like to add my own:

Infiltration - One, Two, Three, or maybe Four People are spawned next to large amounts of stealth supplies. They must use these materials to enter the enemy base, steal intel, and get back out.
-Sabotage - Same as above, only you must destory something.
-Assassination - Same as above, only you must kill someone.

Hunt - One team has a limited amount of soldiers, all with very limited weaponry, and a knife. The other team respawns, and is only equiped with long ranged weapons. The Hunters win by killing all of the other team. The Hunted win by hiding in till the timer runs out.

Juggernaunt - One player is massively overpowered. Everyone else on the map is after him. First man to kill him becomes him next round.

Zombies! - One to Five players begin "Infected". The Infected are slow, only have melee, and are incredibly hard to take down, requiring a headshot for the kill. Players hit by the zombies turn into zombies themselves on the spot. (May require some form of slowly generating stamina to work properly. Some NPCs may also need to be infected for it to work.)

Edit: You may also wish to change the name of this thread to "Online Gamemodes" because we already have enough "Online suggestions" threads.

Yeah, every infected player spawns a group of 8 zombie NPCs, that way it's got the massive horde thing going on.

Here I was, wondering how this could get better. And it just did.

But if there was a zombie mode, there would have to be a shotgun. That's the line I draw.

Post subject:  Re: Online suggestions!

those are pretty cool suggestions. common game modes for familiarity are good. i haven't yet played with vehicles so i can't say anything about a vehicle-only mode.

in terms of suggestions, what i THOUGHT i would like to see is a Section 8 style conquest, with random objectives sprouting up once in awhile, which, if completed (or prevented) would provide bonuses (or not) for the team that completed them. I like the idea of the DCMs from Section 8 because they really spiced things up and changed where firefights were based on the objective (and it wasn't like a campfest like some conquest -style modes turn out to be).

one problem though, section 8 allowed you some really good options for traveling fast. i don't see that happening in RWR. unless there are like motorcycles implemented. (would that be cool? maybe) so my other suggestion would be

- soldier classes: objective-based gameplay where certain objectives can only be completed by certain classes! think Quake Wars: ET or Frontlines. also, dynamically moving maps are cool. I think the style and gameplay of RWR can allow for these kinds of tactical objective-based modes as well as the horde-type modes where everybody is just rockin' out and blowing everybody and everything up.

anyway, my twopence.
