Post subject:  A few suggestions...

First off, Running with Rifles is an awesome game, especially so considering it was made by one man. However, there are a few ways RWR could be even more awesome than it already is.
Note: I may add more things to this as I think/remember them.

Secondary slot
This suggestion feeds mainly into my equipment one (next paragraph) but basicly, this is ,as the name suggests, a secondary slot. The members of each team would spawn with their usual weapon (primary slot) and a pistol in their secondary slot. These two slots would be switched by pressing the q button.

Regarding classes / Equpiment
I do NOT think that classes would be good for this game, rather add equipment to the game, which would be in special boxes of a different colour. These would spawn on whichever team had the least boxes, so if green had 5 and grey had 4 the next would spawn at grey (thanks to whoever it was who put that suggestion in another topic, its an awesome idea)
Now, these special boxes can only be opened by knife and would give out special equipment (randomly picked) which, when picked up, would use up either there primary or secondary slot, so they still have a weapon. This means that if you found a med kit (for example) it would take up your secondary slot, so you can still be an effective fighter, but if you found a grenade launcher it would take up your primary, so your team mates would have to protect you. In addition, when the person carrying spectal equipment dies, he does not drop the equipment, increasing the importance of teammates protection.
EDIT: If swapped, the special equipment will fall to the floor like a normal weapon, but will have a glow effect around it(maybe a circle similar to the play circle?), and last 30 seconds, at which point it will disappear when the net special crate spawns

Equipment
- Med kit: This takes up your secondary (pistol) slot, allows you to revive teammates who haven't respawned, but will take a few seconds to do so, and have a cool down of about twice the revival time. A small red + would float above the character, visible to both teams (debatable), so people know who to protect and who to target.

- Mortar radio: This takes up your primary (g36, ak47 etc) slot, so teammates will have to protect whoever is carrying it, as they will only have a pistol. This allows the carrier to call in a mortar strike every (one? two?) minutes. A mortarey symbol would appear above the carrier's head visible to friendlies only, until they call in one mortar strike, at which point both teams will be able to see it.

-Mobile spawn: This takes up your secondary slot, and, when placed, will act as a normal spawn until X people have spawned on it. As it acts as a normal spawn, a team couldn't simply rush in, place a MS, and have there army spawn inside the enemy base, because, as with normal spawns, teammates cannot spawn when enemies are nearby.

-Grenade Launcher: This takes up your primary slot, and fires one of your grenades like a bullet, but with less velocity. These fired grenades will explode on impact with any non-enviroment thing it hits, including vehicles when they are added. Because of this, the grenade launcher an effective anti-vehicle weapon, but as it does not arc upwards, and therefore cannot go anywhere a bullet couldn't as well as being slower, it is not an overpowered-explosions-everywhere device.

-Flare gun: This takes up your secondary slot and when used, fires a flare into the air (yay poetry). This will cause a pop up in the top left "A flare has been fired near XXXX" and will also highlight the area where the flare was fired on the map. Both of these will be visible to both teams, regardless of who fired it. This will be useful when as a signal to start a planned attack on an enemy base, or to distract and confuse the enemy.

Other Ideas
This will be the section where i post things that do not fit into other areas, or that fit into more than one.

-Sniper rifle/scope: possibly special crate equipment, gun would be bolt action and very loud and distinguishable (AI: "SNIPER!!!"), have no other effects when stood up or moving, when crouching and still the screen allows you to see a bit further, and when prone (and still if crawling is added) you can see a bit further that that.

-Vehicles: no tanks, maybe unarmed apcs, defiantly jeeps/humvees. jeeps/humvess have 1 driver and 3 passengers (shooting out of windows?)(awesome car chases?) take one or two hits with grenades to take out, apcs have 1 driver and 6/7 passengers (no shooting out windows so no driving up to an enemy base and shooting everyone before enough grenades hit), slower than jeeps/humvees but can take 4/5 greandes before being disabled.
Both vehicles, when destroyed leave a (destructible) carcass behind, as temporary cover.

Gameplay
This area will be where I put ideas that do not add equipment, weapons etc to the game, but rather add mechanics that would be helpful if they where added into the game.

-Chatting: I think that there should be two forms of chat, the current bubble chat, and a server wide chat, both of which will be visible to anyone. This way, teams could say: "everyone on grey to XXXX, to discuss battle plans" and then use bubble chat to plan it out (sneaky spies could use this opportunity well 8-) ).

Wow.... these are REALLY good suggestions!

I definitely agree with the equipment / Classes ordeal.

I'm on the same track regarding equipment vs classes.

I'd especially want some stealth specific equipment, maybe laser sights or even explosives, which could introduce a new way of conquering a base off the main objectives, alone or with a small stealth team. I haven't really thought it through yet how the explosives would function.

Some ideas have crossed my mind that maybe it's simply that you just scatter some amount of explosives around the enemy base while staying unnoticed and remote trigger the explosives in order to kill most of the enemies, and then go in and attempt to kill the rest of them to conquer the base.

Another way might be freeing prisoners. You would set the explosives on specific spawn points in the enemy base, which would basically be marked doors on buildings, and once triggered to explode, the spawn points would turn into your faction's spawn points and a number of soldiers would run out, and you'd fight the base. It would probably only work this way if the base was unalarmed on the time of triggering the explosions.

I also liked the med kit idea in the past, but recently I've started to doubt how necessary would it really be. There are a lot of spawn points nowadays, which means less running to action after getting killed, which means that you can run back to the battle as a fresh soldier almost in the same time that would be needed for a soldier with a med kit to get to your body, pull you into safety and revive you.

A mortar radio might be a good replacement for the current solution, in which all players can use it after reaching a certain rank and getting points up to new levels. The current solution will likely not fit in a large PvP, unless it would be somehow capped that how many mortar strikes per time unit can be handled.

Mobile spawn sounds a little artificial to me, I wouldn't like the spawn points to be located in middle of nowhere.

The problem with the rocket launcher taking up a primary slot, especially if you didn't have the choice to opt-out, is that in SP you can't order your units to protect you. So you are basically forced to go wherever they go.

Sorry, took me all this time to realize you were adding new stuff to the first post

About grenade launcher, I think something pretty much like it, like e.g. a LAW, will become useful when there are vehicles, like you said. Should be very easy to add.

Flare gun doesn't seem very useful as such yet, but it's a start for an idea. Maybe it could be evolved into something more of importance, anyone?

Some kind of a sniper rifle I can see fitting in the game. I've been working with the roof top access lately, and it occasionally brings pretty delicious chances for shooting far, which seems like a perfect place for a sniper. As the accuracy and lethality of the sniper rifle would be 100%, it would probably need some mechanic to make it more difficult to use, in addition to the slowness due to bolt action. Maybe the crosshair would wander around more the farther you are aiming.

Moving on prone is likely coming, I'm once again short of animations for that.

The chat currently works so that the messages are faction-wide, far away players get the messages through radio, and nearby players see the bubbles on the screen beside the talking soldier. An enemy can also see the bubbles if nearby. I think a public radio chat should be added, so that you can send a message shown to everyone in every faction, to e.g. inform that the server will be shutdown soon or anything else you might want to orchestrate.

In theory, continuing with the old chat system, there's some potential to make it possible to somehow tap into another faction's radio channels, to spy on them. Currently though, it's hard for me to see that anyone would really make use of it, as creating plans by chatting is pretty slow in the first place, so not much interesting info is carried on the radio :) Voice support would change a lot there, but atm I have no plans to go that far with it.
