Post subject:  Improve classic mode experience

Hello,

recently I had a conversation with pasik about running modifications on a ded server.
At least we notice that mod is not made for Invasion/Campaign.
After this we spoke about the classic mode. In this topic I like to discuss the development of the classic mode.
I am convinced that modulaation have also great plans for this but I want to share my ideas and my experience.
There are some reasons why this mode is unpopular.
In my opinion the most important point is that stats are not saved and lost after every map.
I understand the reason why the stats are cleared: The game will be fair and not disappointing for new gamer.
There are not enough player to include a system which choose the right player where the skill fits each other like in wow.

My suggestion:
Set up a tracking portal. My favourite ego shooter is Enemy Territory, a pure multiplayer game http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfenstei ... _Territory
There are already running two (or more) tracking sites:

I am not 100% sure, but I think the tracking portals works in this way:
They scan a masterlist = get all et servers (like the rwr serverlist)
Than they crawl the server frequently and ask for the useres, xp, kills, deaths and play time.
Which this and additional informations (e.g. how often is the player active) there is calculate a Score. Then you have a ranking.

advantages:
- Serverlist
- Maplist
- Personal stats
- Ranking
- Community features
- Fair

cons:
- unaccurate tracking: Tracking is user named based
- abuse through cheats, but this can never be completely avoided

requierments
- all parameters for the formular have to be even on every server
- setting up a standard communication and a defined interface (think it is only a technical change)

For further questions you could ask Pauluzz on quakenet #trackbase or schnoog on splatterladder via web formular.
Furthermore there would be a marketing advantage: you reach more gamers.
I image rwr.splatterladder.com or similar

I think it would be also a good idea, to set up an Map Cycle, that the exp and rank are stored for a definde amount of maps.

Best regards
Michael
