(Sorry for the length, trying to make a clear case for my suggestion)

We all know this map. I personally love it (as I think a lot of us do), great landscape, good combination of environments, lots of great vehicle opportunity. But it's also known for stagnating, for being played often, for taking hours, and often being repeated (or appearing to).

I know recent minor map changes were made to allow for better movement through the field on this map and others. Often new forms of places of cover as well as new side objectives. Yet this map out of all of them seems to be the most frequently available one online.

I have been playing as much as time allows lately to help insure the community stays active, and to meet new player. And for the past two weeks or more I have been trying to hope on for a little bit morning, noon and night (about 15min-1hr if I can) to test out the frequency of this map and possibly working with new players before making this suggestion.

At this point I would say: 9/10 it's the Moorland Trenches. (I play SASInvasion by default always)

It also appears to be the most abandoned map; myself included. As far as I hear when I play, no one hates the map. And most will continue to play (also myself included), yet I've learned I'm not the only one that feels they frequently drop into this map and spend most of their time trying to complete it.

I assume the frequency arises from the fact that most people drop out, decreasing the likelihood of completion, thereby increasing the duration it runs on the server which in turn increase the likelihood that a player will drop into this map at any given time. (Of course this is base on the further assumption that these games "run" when no one is one, and the AI never "beat" itself and possibly advance the map. If not then it could be based on peoples' inability to complete the map in low numbers, causing it to run for extended periods.) Anyway...

So my only suggestion at this time, the only thing I can think of that is the most simple for this one issue is:

Reduce Moorland Trenches to a 2 Faction Map.

I know that when there are many people the issue of completing a map isn't so big, but most times there are not 20-30 people on. And even then this map can still get strung out, especially with the slow and steady flow of new players unaware of the importance of focusing ALL attention on removing one faction. I understand that this can be conveyed during the game, but it doesn't always work. And as the main point, Moorland Trenches seems to suffer the most from this issue.

Don't remove the 3-way from any other map, they are great battles. But with the space involved and the diversity of landscape, Moorland Trenches is still very much Stalemate ( it was called that right? lol)
It's a great set-up for the map in general (the 3-way), but with the current flow of players and the difficulty completing the map overall with 3-factions it becomes too frequently played and for extended periods to maintain the pleasure of it.

Okay that's it. The rest is great.

Moorland Trenches could be just made easier by using lower AI-player compensation multiplier in Invasion if it's too difficult when player counts get high, I'd think it's 8x by default. Without other players it's the same difficulty as it is in single player campaign.

I wouldn't say it's important to focus on eliminating one faction at a time. In my experience (campaign) the map feels easier if you've got the enemy factions roughly of same size most of the time. Sure, they will attack 2 bases rather than 1, but there's a big chance they're attacking each other rather than the player faction. Also this strategy keeps the capacity for each enemy faction small - you'd want to avoid single faction owning majority of the map.

Note, that only makes the map easier, it's still beatable (at least in single player) even if you're in a situation that one enemy owns 13/15 bases while you and the other enemy have 1 base. I personally had the most epic Moorland Trenches time testing for 0.96 where I had such situation, the whole map took close to 3.5 hours and it was awesome, all sorts of stuff kept happening and even the enemy faction with 1 base at that certain point managed to come back to the battle capturing around 5 bases.
