It's easy to lose your character when simultaneously tracking your cross-hairs, so a larger brighter, animated circle under your own character would help activate players peripheral vision and greatly enhance their dual tracking ability.

The animated part is the key here, because it's motion that activates peripheral vision, and would allow players to focus on aiming the cross-hairs without losing track of their character.

For the small update that will be released today, we added 2 different playermarkers, one for you (and at a smaller scale for your squad mates) and a different one for the remote players. It won't be anything fancy with scale/rotating animation, just as before with a slight different shape to be easier to distinguish. Also there will be something to better visually localize your player on the map.

For player-heavy matches, an option to just disable all other player markers could be useful too.

The markers would be disabled only in the actual game view, on the field. As there would be no bots, or very few of them, you possibly wouldn't care which ones of the soldiers are bots or players. You'd still see the edge markers and the markers in the map view.

For me, knowing I'm fighting alongside (or against) a human is very important so I'd want that always marked. Sure, marking only yourself will help when looking for your guy in a crowd, but what I'm talking about here is help in keeping track of your guy while your focusing on the cross-hairs, ie not needing to directly look at your guy and still being able to track him. A pulsing or otherwise animated marker is going to really enhance that ability.

Yea, the suggestion was mostly for invasion (all players in one faction), and especially when it goes overboard like having 40-50 guys playing when it becomes an issue. With remote player markers enabled, all you see is different colored markers on every soldier which carries about the same amount of indication as having no markers at all for them.

An animated marker for the local player in let's say single player would feel "oversolving" the issue to me. You're the only one with the colorful marker and your character is always at the opposite edge / corner to where you're shooting. Of course we who have played the game for the last 1 - 36 months are probably much more used to looking at the game so that we've learned to filter the visuals so that it causes no issues to spot the player.

For the record, the game was for quite long working so that there was no marker at all for the player either, and people could play like that too. The option is still there :)
