Post subject:  Buildings

I suggested this to Jackmayol yesterday and figured I post it here today. Instead of a building with a roof, why not just place 4 walls with windows you can shoot out? no need for a roof. I dont know if the maps can handle the small textures needed to have a floor on the ground in the building but it would help the player know he is in the house. Add a doorway in one of the walls, and maybe the ability to hop through the windows?

You can throw a nade in there if there's no roof, or shoot in it from higher ground.

Floor could be decorated with decals.

There's no such thing as window in RWR, i.e. solid bottom, non-existing middle part that allows stuff to go through, and solid top.

There's a trick in 0.91 that makes it possible to create a wall sequence with pieces of different heights, but even using that, you'd miss the top part of the window. In the end it might be enough for a building, you might not really care if bullets are coming through the top solid part or not, as long as you have cover below the window.

Right that works. Ss for grenades, thats just a risk you gotta take....would there be a way to make an invisible roof? eh... if not then I think this works well already.

For some kind of ruins of a building it could fit pretty well I think, a few corners still standing, short wall pieces with different heights connected together.

It could be also made as an actual hand-modeled geometry visually rather than using the blocky pieces RWR has, and just use invisible physical walls to make it function as expected.
