Hello, While messing about in the modding side of the game, I had an idea. I'm going to assume that you're smart and already know what it is from the title of this topic. Now, this could be done in two ways (there may be more but these are the two I've thought of for now); 1. Split all_weapons.xml into green_weapons.xml, grey_weapons.xml and brown_weapons.xml. All weapons that members of that faction can spawn with are listed inside. The commonness can be overridden from the .weapon file much like it can be in the current all_weapons.xml file. 2. In the .weapon file for each weapon, instead of just one commonness value, there's one for the greens, greys and browns. So if, for instance, a weapon had a green_commonness of 0.1, grey commonness of 0.05 and a brown commonness of 0, it would mean that greys would be half as likely to spawn with that gun than the greens, and browns can never spawn with it. Now whether the player had picked up or bought a gun that their faction can't spawn with loses that gun when they die is something I'm undecided on. On the one hand, it would give players a reason to pick a certain faction over the others and not just a colour or name preference, but on the other, it would get frustrating having to keep on going and buying your favourite gun all the time. Thoughts? |

This has already been suggested and is being worked on. I'm not sure if the system follows one of the ways you suggested, but faction specific weapons will be a thing in the near future. EDIT: I'm not a dev, I can't promise anything, but I'm rather certain I saw pasik write something about this |
