this has saved my arse countless times.

Fire - Left mouse button
Grenade - Middle mouse button
Crouch - Right mouse button

Its so convenient! I think it should be the default setting.

While yours might be an excellent set up, most games follow a basic set up for default controls.

If you change the default controls to something that individuals would normally customize to, you would unnecessarily steepen the learning curve if you made these the default.

But, I might try that out for my set up, thanks.

In my defence, this is unlike most games. So if i were a new gamer; i'd assume the controls would be different on that factor alone.

While yes, a person will still check the controls before playing a new game, if you deviate away from what other games do, you can unnecessarily steepen the learning curve.

I didn't have to check where the grenade button was, I immediately hit G.
I didn't have to figure out how to shoot, I aimed with the mouse, and fired with the LMB.
I didn't have to learn how to reload, I hit the R button.

All of this was done subconsciously when I started the game, which is something that you want to happen for new people, who are more likely to decide they don't like the game and never touch it again, because they don't have a solid opinion yet.

Being a BF:BC2 player, I've become accustomed to using middle-mouse button for knife.

I think the knife is mostly useless, they always shoot you before you can get close enough. The control config is really useful though
