title says it all.

kinda sucks when you have to stand still to pick up a gameboy/magazine/whatever for five seconds, then run to an armory five minutes away just to get insta-mossberg'd by an AI from 200 yards away, losing any RP drops you may have bothered to pick up along the way.

i think if you die you should at least be able keep them in your backpack stash. otherwise why bother picking up anything at all? that, or make the RP drops worth MUCH more than they are now to compensate.

The point of the collectables is to add a risk reward aspect to the fighting. You risk your life running into the battle to grab the goodie, then you risk your life again by running away. Otherwise, it would be way too easy to collect RP. 200-400 RP is quite a lot when you add in the +5 RP/min.

You should also use stashes to protect collectables if armouries are too far away from your position. Then you can collect your collectables from the stashes and sell them later as armouries usually have stashes nearby.

yeah i get the risk-reward thing, i just don't think it's even close to worth the risk.

i guess i'll just stick to killing greys and ignore the drops.

there are items with low value where you will take the risk to not run to a stash/armory instantly as it's not worth it and that's fine.
Also you shouldn't have to run too far away to get to a stash/armory.

The suitcase, gem and painting are worth 200, 300 and 500 RP.
That's a pretty good load imo.
Anyways, trekking back to the armory shouldn't really be too much of a risk if you're not completely surrounded.

Tapping F to pick up a single item hardly takes five second, or if there are more items at the same spot, hold F + tap on the item still doesn't take five seconds. Closest armory or stash is usually near where you'd spawn anyway if you'd die, and running back to battle usually takes anything between 15-30 seconds, double that, and you're looking at 30-60 seconds range for making the delivery and getting back to battle. Taking the items to safety will give you 20-500 RP, compare that to getting 5 RP / 60 seconds and do the math :) Note, that you can also use stashes on enemy territory, even armories work even if they shouldn't.

Having the backpack carry over death doesn't make sense. If you feel the RP values are wrong, make a mod. Alternatively you can use rwr_send to start the match with custom RP multiplier, or grant you any amount of RP you want.
