I could be alone on this but I often find that I want to grab a ride on a vehicle controlled by an npc but they drive off or past me before I can jump on. My suggested solution: add a key to shout for a ride that would cause the driver to stop for a second or two. AI soldiers could do the same - something like "Hey, Can I get a ride!?" It could be activated any time one is within LoS range of a manned vehicle.
