Hello,

When doing a clean install of 0.691 the game says it saves game but it does not.
To fix it I created C:\ProgramData\Running with rifles\savegames manually.

Not sure if the game creates the additional folders for maps automatically, but in the end the full directory will be:

C:\ProgramData\Running with rifles\savegames\<mapname>
where <mapname> corresponds to the folder name the respective map is located in (map1/map2/map3)

I'm trying out this with Windows 7 with admin enabled user account with UAC set on. I've removed the earlier "Running with rifles"-folder in C:\ProgramData\.

Once I run RWR 0.691 the first time after I've handled the config dialog, a location C:\ProgramData\Running with rifles\ is created, along with a few config files and logs.

At this point there is no savegames-folder, but it will appear when the game saves the first time. Note that even if it saves the default game i.e. quick game after playing a while, which you can play by not starting a new game specifically by just dismissing the menu, as default.dat, you can not really load this game session. You are supposed to start a new game in the menu if you want to continue it later on.

However, there seems to be a bug here which is related to the very first time launching RWR and before changing to another map. It loads up map2, but in the log it is seen that it's not using the (savegames\)map2-subfolder for the saves, but instead an empty location, causing it to store the savegames in a location it would not normally use. The second time you launch RWR or when you change the map, it will use the correct save folder with the map specific name, and it does seem to create the subfolders just fine.

I'll have to test this again with standard user rights + UAC enabled.

Also, one thing I haven't tried so far at all is how the game behaves on a multi-user system, where you might've installed RWR using one account and use another one to play it. The data is shared, that's for sure, but I'm not entirely sure about the access, read and write rights that are involved here.

Putting some personal experience here:

My account is the only one on the system.
OS is Windows 7
Account has Admin rights, so I don't play with "Right-click, run as Administrator".

It created some config folders, but no further Savegames folder.

Ah, now I just realized what the problem is. It actually works only because of the bug on the first clean launch, when you still don't have "C:\ProgramData\Running with rifles" at all. On the first launch, it uses, by mistake, the root save folder for save games, C:\ProgramData\Running with rifles\savegames, and because of that, it ends up creating that subfolder successfully as long as you play long enough on the first run to make the game auto-save. If it would be using the correct location from the start, i.e. C:\ProgramData\Running with rifles\savegames\map2, its creation would fail, as there's still no savegames-subfolder.

Anyway, fixed it for the upcoming version, let's call it 0.695.
