I haven't been playing RWR for a while and wanted to come back to it tonight. For some reason the game runs really slow. Even in the menu any movements (camera/cursor/player) are really slow. I was wondering if anyone had a problem with this or how to fix it?

We're gonna need more to go on. Specs, programs running in the background, graphics settings, etc. I hope I can help.

I have clock app on windows desktop and sometimes when i start RWR, the clock stays on top op of RWR screen and makes game really slow. Alt+tab x2 and its gone.
Just saying, if it was the problem you would have noted it already.

What he said. It's not just the clock app, RWR doesn't play nice with lots of overlay-type tools (such as the steam overlay). When using them (or experiencing slowdown in general) just alt-tab a couple times. It's a messy fix but a necessary one until we find out what's really causing the issue.

Depending on system specs, the still fairly new higher shadow quality settings could be killing the performance. Try changing to low quality in options which is just a little bit better than what RWR previously had.

Macbook Pro 13-inch 2011
2.4Ghz Intel Core i5
8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB

My computer has never really been optimal to run this game, always having some slight lag. Now it's just unplayable though. I don't have any apps running besides steam while playing. I've kept graphics at low, shadows and all other environmental graphics off.
When I boot up the game there seems to be like torn cached images also... I don't know what that is.

Thanks for the replies!

What do you mean by "torn cached images"? Do you mean an error that says something about torn cached images?

This happens for a couple seconds when booting up the game. Don't know if it matters at all. Just seemed weird.

Ah. That's very strange. However, it does show me you're on a mac, which could be the root cause. Macs don't play nice with lots of games and as far as I know, RWR is no exception.

I looked it up and going windowed might help, since it's kind of what seems to be a "cure all" for mac issues. Try that, see if it works.

Windowed doesn't seem to help either.
