RWR Demo crashes on Ubuntu 16.04 with this in the log:

08:45:00: OGRE EXCEPTION(6:FileNotFoundException): Cannot locate resource GLX_icon.png in resource group General or any other group. in ResourceGroupManager::openResource at /build/buildd/ogre-1.7.2/OgreMain/src/OgreResourceGroupManager.cpp (line 753)

I've tried it on 2 different laptops and a desktop and I get the same error. I want to buy the game but Steam recommended I try the demo first and I guess that was a good idea.

I did some more googling and found a solution...

cd ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/RunningWithRiflesDemo/lib
mv libxcb.so.1 libxcb.so.1.save
mv libz.so.1 libz.so.1.save

Now the demo starts...

Interesting that worked on 2 of the 3 machines I tried it on... The desktop machine, a Zotac ZBox B1323 with a quad core Celeron and Intel HD graphics it worked... The first laptop, a Dell Lattitude E6520 which has a dual core i5 and Intel HD graphics it worked... the second laptop an Acer Aspire 5253 with a dual core AMD C50 and Radeon HD6250 graphics it still got the same error about the missing .png I did see that the game won't run with the proprietary ATI drivers, but I'm not running any proprietary drivers on any of these machines. All 3 machines have 8GB of RAM.

Anyway, since I've got at least one machine the demo runs on I think I will go ahead and buy the game.

Put the following in a file and chmod +x it then execute it...

I bought the game on Steam. The full version seems to run fine on the Acer Aspire Laptop so all is good.
