Post subject:  Singleplayer is great, but cant join any mp servers

Hi,

Having a blast with this again after rediscovering it on steam. Only problem is I cant join any mp games.. singleplayer quick/campaign runs fine though. Attached is a screen of what I get on trying to connect, it just stays in this frozen state.

I've tried full reinstall, removing the RWR folder from appdata also, no joy.

Tried the serverwatcher tool as well and that actually shows me as a listed player on w/e server I try to join. Not really sure what's up, hope you can help!

ps, sorry for screenshot size xD

Can you post the contents of %appdata%\Running with rifles\rwr_game.log after trying to join a server? You could put the stuff in e.g. pastebin.com or send the log file to me at support@modulaatio.com.

Hmm, for some reason the first sync packet the server is supposed to send to you isn't either being sent or received, or is blocked by something, in this case. I find that pretty odd given how the earlier part of the handshake goes just fine.

For me, connecting to InvasionUSA says this in the log:
Code:
20:50:13:                                         : Welcome received, our peer index at server = 0, machine id = 1, server realm=
20:50:13:                                         : sending authentication data for server
20:50:13:                                         : Resource setup received
20:50:13:                                         : game reset
20:50:13:                                         : Complete sync packet received

The sync packet gets received instantly after game reset.

Try to connect to InvasionUSA at some point. Not sure how I'm going to catch stuff related to you in the server log, though.. If you can check what your IP is at that time and tell it to me too, I can use that. A service like this can tell it http://www.whatsmyip.org if you're behind a router.

Okay so, connected to invasionUSA moments ago, problem persists.

Updated rwr_game.log http://pastebin.com/auZikMrs

ip at the time was 90.209.50.40

Thanks for trying that. Can't spot anything wrong in the server log either, it's behaving exactly same as when I connect.

When you left after being about 10 seconds on the server, the server logged forcibly killing your still alive character, like it does to everyone.

I'll add some more traces on the server to ensure a few things, I'll post when you could try connecting again.

In the meantime, you could try pinging the InvasionUSA server a bit, check if you're getting packet losses or something. Run cmd, and command "ping 209.126.101.5 -t" and let it run while, pressing ctrl-c will end it.
Code:
C:\Users\pasik>ping 209.126.101.5 -t

All right, InvasionUSA server logging has been updated now. Please try to connect again there when possible.

Ran ping test, no problems there, 0%loss.

Will try to connect to invasionUSA repeatedly.

(edit) Have tried connecting over a dozen times now at least xD hopefully theres something there to see, gl!

Noticed you there. On server side it seems to be doing the right thing. The complete sync packet is sent to you after you connect, your data is fine, you're accepted as a client.

I suppose I'll add more traces on the client side tomorrow (about to go get some sleep), and make a custom build for you to try. It's still evident that the complete sync packet isn't received / handled by your game, just need to figure out why that would happen.

Have you tried to disable any possible anti-virus software?

Yes, tried disabling av software, no joy there either. Checked router settings also, everything required should be accepted, no other online applications are having problems.
