Just curious if I could Have my vanilla game through the Steam version and run the "standalone" version from Desura. That way I could try mods and stuff on my desktop version, and have my regular play done through Steam.

Is that possible?

I'd like to try some mods but I want to leave a regular version for playing online and whatnot.

Also: I tried to download the recent update (.99.1) from Desura and it wasn't possible. It's labeled as "INSTALL FILE 1" and I have nothing that can open it apparently? Anyway, I know it updates differently, but in the past I just downloaded and installed the new version and it would overwrite the old one. That was before Steam.

It's possible. I just now downloaded running_with_rifles_beta_0.99.1_install.exe from Desura website, it's on the right side, Beta EXE Installer under Downloads.

I've gotten it from Desura a bunch of times before, that's why I was surprised I couldn't download it right this time. Maybe it's the first time I've tried on the new comp even though I've had it almost a year. I'll give it a go again and see if it I get it right.

Just tried again, and yeah it may be Windows 8, I don't know... but it brings up this. I'll look into it. No worries.
But if anyone's got info I'm sure it'd be helpful. In the meantime lets say: Goddamn you Windows 8!

File comment: This is what pops up after trying to just run the "install" direct from page. If I try to save and run I get the same thing.
