I have the same problem that's described at the end of this thread:

Unfortunately, running the game from the command line (./launch_game) does not prevent the campaign from crashing about a second in.

I wasn't sure where rwr_log was in linux, but attached is the redirected output from launching the game and running the campaign.

Something that fits the description was being investigated earlier today, where the quick workaround was to edit rwr_directory/media/packages/vanilla/scripts/internal/metagame.php line 70 to

For some reason this doesn't happen on all Linux systems, my Ubuntu 12.04 works fine with that.

A patch will be submitted in Steam once the launch issue from Steam is investigated and resolved, shouldn't take more than a day or two.

That line change works perfectly, thanks! I'm on Ubuntu 13.10 64bit-- maybe that has something to do with it? Really, I have no idea.

Thanks for the really prompt help--I'm up and playing the campaign, and really enjoying it!
