So, I found the AK-74u. Amazing gun, that is. I really loved it. I bought a ton of vests and made sure my squad had at least a few medics. But then we found a tank, and then the gunner got me. And then the cannon killed the whole of my squad, leaving me to bleed to death.

Good times.

So that made me think two things. 1, they need to add more weapons that aren't rare and 2, how can I make the ones that are rare, less rare. So, I looked at the files in the weapons section and thought, "I should learn how to code, but first, I should get Notepad++ so I can edit these files." So I did. And then I edited the Ak-74u file and made the rarity 0.02. The normal AK is 0.04, btw. So I'm like "Yes, now I can do cool stuff with that gun again!" Nope. No I can not. When I tried to quit, it asked if I wanna save, so I clicked yes. Then it screwed me over. It said "Unable to save, check if file is open in other program," or something like that. This is the only program I used. Nothing else. Now I'm sad. I want ALL the rare guns! The F2000, the Vss, the AK-74u, the Benneli, the P90, hell, even the crappy Pepperdust!

So please, help me, I just wanna be overpowered!

Hmm, sounds pretty unexpected indeed.

You're on the right path though, that's basically the way to make them more common. Mind that all_weapons.xml is the last point where weapon properties may be overridden, so it's possible the values in aks74u.weapon and others may not be the ones that are used actually in the game.

The files should be editable with about any editor. I for instance use just the regular notepad to edit them; only thing to watch out for is that the file stays properly XML-formatted with those <..><../> -tags and quotes. A program like XML Notepad will help with that, quite possible Notepad++ does the same thing.
