I have an issue when trying to start my game, when launched from steam library it simply gives me the option of configure or play, when I click PLAY the choice window closes and everything goes back to normal. When I click Configure, it opens the configure window as it should be, but when I then click play, it once again closes configure and verything goes back to normal.

I Have Tried
1. Restarting my Computer
2. Verifying my System Cache (2)
3. Uninstalling and Reinstalling
4. Toasting Bread
5. Opening it from the SteamApp file location

When I did number 5 it gave me an error message:
" The program can't start because OpenAL32.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
I have not messed with the files and bought it the day this was posted 1/16/15

I'm not a tech genius at all. Just a regular guy that has gotten mad at his own comp several times. That .dll file issue sound like it may be a graphics driver update is needed through Control Panel? But then again I don't know how often you play stuff, or how much tech stuff you know personally, so that may be useless info. (Yet if not, I suggest doing a web search for that file and see what it is.) Although I doubt you'll wait more than a day or so for a direct answer here as to what it might be.

Also I wanted to say: Windows 7!? (jokingly of course)

You haven't updated to Windows 8!? You are totally missing out on how much you can hate the new OS! It's great! You need an basically an extra OS desktop-mod (Start Menu 8) just to get your Menu Button back! It's great! And then you can cuss yourself out for not just waiting a little longer and getting windows 9 or 10 or X or whatever the quick switch was once everyone hated Windows 8!

Seriously though, I'm sure you'll get your problem sorted soon, and you'll be out dying repeatedly with the rest of us!

Hi, this will fix your problem:

Quote:
RWR is not starting when I try to play. I hit "Play" in the Steam pop-up menu and it flashes a loading sign then nothing happens.

This error seems to be coming up for a few people. The general solution seems to install the OpenAL drivers (audio) manually as Steam sometimes fail to do this automatically, for whatever reason.

Get them here: http://modulaatio.com/runningwithrifles/oalinst.exe
