After a month of hard work, beta 0.72 is finally out! This time a great deal of effort was put into opening up the map editing possibilities as I'm personally working on the so called map4 with a winter theme. The new map is included in the release, though it is somewhat work-in-progress at this point.

Change log for beta 0.72:
serverlist: seemingly random server list menu open crash fixed
startup: GPUs without shader support should again handle soldiers properly, without crashing at startup
startup: ATI X* GPUs set to skip 2.x shaders
resources: fixed a few bugs with map-specific texture overriding when changing maps in-game
settings: aim_helper_speed bug fixed, was initially 0 for some people making the helper immovable
maps: snowy map4 added, work in progress
maps: map flip support added, making possible to edit maps in inkscape aligned similarly as seen in-game, see map4 general settings
maps: surface and terrain config support added, see map4
maps: slight changes in map1-3
maps: fallen trees, tents added, controllable tree foliage
maps: building roof texture support added
mapmode: map viewing mode functional again
stats: some stats are now collected and stored, view to be created later
stats: achievement system implemented, a few achievement types added
weapons: probability to find a bazooka in a crate reduced
weapons: controllable spread range with "spread_range" keyword in weapon specifications, 0.2 by default
server: restart time interval reduced
rules: if all defenders are killed in the last base, the game winner is declared instantly

Yay! :D New map creation settings.

On the field of such, could you add support for custom textures and models in maps? I feel that would add a LOT of creativity to map making.
Even if it is in the future, I just think it would be a cool feature to see.


Edit: Also, maybe some winter camo? Grey could get brown parka, and Green could get some winter camo? I don't know how well this would appear, but it is worth a try.

Support for custom textures and meshes in maps has been there for several months now, from the days we started seeing car props I think. Support for customizing the generated buildings and walls using textures has been there for some time too. Check out Petrenko's mod http://www.moddb.com/mods/running-with-mp40s, he's already doing an awesome job with them!

The soldier and weapon model differentiation between maps is coming with the content package overhaul I'm about to start working on, for this exact reason that I want the soldiers to have a different outfit in the winter map.
