It's up to you whichever you are comfortable with. As long as you are happy.

I have some more people asking me on Steam a lot about different locations and versions to download.
So I was wondering if I could get a quick rundown of the locations for purchase and download?
(I know that you no longer get a Steam key if you buy on Desura, but any extra details will help.

I know Steam, Obviously. And That seems to be the quickest to update automatically?

Desura, which allows you to download the "standalone" version which doesn't require a 3rd party client to play, yet does require you to return and re-download for new updates, correct?

And 3rd place to download now?

I just want to make sure I am providing accurate information to new and interested players on Steam.
Some people are still interested in getting RWR without need for a 3rd party client to play too.

it's on Steam and Desura, that's all. And yes updates on Steam are the fastest (instant).

Okay, so no real difference right?
Simply that if through Steam it saves it into Steam Game Files directory, correct?

And If through Desura, it saves into it's own file (Standalone version, no 3rd party client needed to play)
And Desura will require the player to return and update it, by re-downloading, correct?

I think that's all the clarification I need. Thanks.

in Desura you have the standalone which requires to completely download the new client to update. You also have the branch release like on Steam which will auto update and only download the new files.

The advantage of the Steam version is the friend list implementation, the "join friend's game" (soon implemented) and other stuff in the future which will only be possible via Steam. Of course those things are not necessary and the game is basically just the same with less "social" stuff implemented.
