Here's the change log for beta 0.58:
- slightly closer camera, bigger voxels
- better soldier falling down motion
- much awaited clipboard paste functionality, with Ctrl-V and Shift-Insert
- footstep sounds and dust effects are now correct for all roofs and platforms too
- changed the way first floor texture patterns are generated
- water areas, foam
- swimming, only knife can be used while swimming
- knife can now be used also when falling down
- trench texture had become awkwardly thin at some point -- fixed now
- global chat by pressing shift-enter when completing chat, plain enter chats within faction

New stuff to look into in the next versions:
- AI likes to swim too much; AI should steer away from the water generally
- some flying corpses have made a comeback, likely has something to do with the water
- AI leaders still start dancing around the world block boundaries when entering a block with walls; rare but highly annoying issue

Nice, bought another copy for your hard work so we can play LAN "legally." Just out of curiosity (if you don't mind) - What game engine are you using or is this a custom engine?

Edit - And why aren't you on Desura? I have been addicted to that service and taking a break from steam. Your game is as good as anything Desura has to offer with a lot of early alpha versions of games.

The game engine is custom, and based on OGRE graphics library.

I'm on my way to get RWR to Desura! :) There are a bunch of things I need to do with the RWR IndieDB site first before they can evaluate if RWR could get in as an alpha funded game.

One more question if it is alright - Are all your soldier animations sprites or do you use 3D models with bones? They look incredible and if you use sprites you must have hundreds of them. I mess around with gamemaker (please try not to laugh) and find this stuff fascinating.

The animations are skeletal and animated with a sort of keyframer.. most of the animations have around 4 frames but the interpolation works wonders :D

The soldiers are 3D models basically, but made of 3D points rather than the usual polygons, and the 3D points are rendered as tiny 2D rectangles in the game giving them that sprite-y look. Here's a screenshot from my modelling and animating tool (the tool itself is rather horrible, but never mind that), where the 3D points are represented by boxes instead:

Wow, that's pretty cool. I don't think I've ever seen animations/models done like that. Your animations look amazing and this helps explain why.

All right, bugs time: :D
1. The firing animations are off.
2. Isoline shader intensity and occurrence cannot be changed using 5, 7, 8, 9 keys.

What does firing animations being off mean exactly?

Isoline intensity and occurrence controls were disabled as they were obstructing number input while chatting. The UI control for isolines will make things right again.
