Updated the scripts to work with 0.89.

It appears Al-Tabul has issues loading up on Linux, Ogre asserts on an inverted box definition somewhere, concerns both server and desktop. Same stuff works fine on Windows, both server and desktop. I've disabled Al-Tabul from the scripts for now, they can be easily enabled in the map_rotator_*.php by taking the block out of comments.

Gonna study what's going on with Linux then.

And it's patch time again, 0.89.1 server is out. Clients were crashy joining 0.89 server, hope I found the right issue with this.

A client side issue was found now too, which is why I'm submitting 0.89.1 in Desura right now. The server doesn't need an additional fix for this, so the 0.89.1 server build is just fine.

As it's Friday already, it's possible Desura will not get 0.89.1 out in time for Sunday's match, so to workaround the client side join crash issue, I've updated the mode scripts again so that clients won't crash joining dedicated servers.

For background, the issue happens when a client has loaded the same map the server has, and server has custom map config (different factions / vehicles than single player), and client joins. Stuff works fine if client joins from another map to the server with custom map config. Damn.

Servers and scripts updated, Map 6 enabled in the map rotator and both running fine. Only thing I didn't update was the basic commands handler, I like being able to change maps from within the game :D

Updated modes.zip now that 0.89.1 game build is indeed out. Cargo truck is again enabled, Al-Tabul as well.

I am using PuTTY to control a Linux CentOS system remotely, and I am having certain issues setting up a server (The version is the latest one)

Here are the steps I took:
1. Downloaded http://modulaatio.com/runningwithrifles ... 386.tar.gz (Linux server bundle)
2. Extracted tar.gz
3. Downloaded modes.zip and modes_settings.zip
4. Extracted both into individual folders

I see 3 directories: lib, license, and modes. There are also 2 zip files, modes_settings.zip and modes.zip.
Lastly, there are two executable files named launch_server and rwr_server.

Am I just completely noob with Linux, or is there some step I missed? Or both? o.O

EDIT: I understand the media files need to be brought over, but once that happens, what's the next step?

There is one of your problems at least.
They should go in the same folder.

Can't help you much with the rest though, sorry. :|

edit: Or wait a bit there, if you see only one directory called modes (and not another called "modes_settings" too) it should be right actually.

We had a chat about this on IRC, the core issue would seem to be related to the RWR server build being compiled in Ubuntu Lucid (from April 2010), but Papa's CentOS would appear to be older than that not having new enough system C/C++ libraries to be compatible with the libs bundled with RWR.

The chat became to an abrupt end, and I didn't quite get what version of CentOS was in question. Knowing that could at least verify the assumption.

I don't know what version it was, but alright, I'll look into the directory issue

I found this command: "cat /etc/redhat-release" for CentOS version check. It is from 2007 so I wouldn't know if it's anymore a relevant way to check it.
