I want to keep this topic alive so here's a little story about a group of 4 soldiers that wanted to conquer the Hotel D:
Every reference to left and right is in the perspective of the player, not the soldier itself
Night of 18th August in the Hotel Cafeteria
All the soldiers are celebrating its conquer that happened the day before. All but the one who actually conquered it. Sergeant Russell Russell. Everyone was having a lot of fun, laughing, celebrating, eating but most of all, drinking. When Lieutenant Paul Campbell saw him in the corner sad and alone decided it was best to talk to him, after all, he should be the one having the most fun. -Hey Sergeant why are you so gloomy? Russell was about to stand up to salute him but the Lieutenant stopped him, and so he said -Hello Lieutenant, it’s nothing, I just don’t feel in the mood of partying, although, you smell a bit too much of alcohol, are you drunk? You’re the highest ranked soldier in here, shouldn’t you give an example? -Just a *hic* bit but let’s not go into that. How come you don’t feel in the mood to party? You just conquered a base wanted for months and you’ll be promoted soon. If I were you I’d be doing back flips after drinking 5 shots of vodka right now. -I’m happy, it’s just… I feel that the cost was just emotionally too high. I had never lost any men before in a mission. -So is war. Every soldier here is sad that men have to die in order to stop the disorder caused by others but we all have to learn to get over it… and now it’s your turn. Just have some fun. At this point the Lieutenant brings his can of beer and drinks the rest of it in one go (more or less half of it). -No thank you. If you don’t mind Lieutenant I’d rather get over this on my own. Good night. -Nah. You’ll get over it here and you’ll be over there partying with the other soldiers by the end of the night, so let me help you with that. Tell me. How did you conquer this place? -Fine. It was me; a Private named Marvin Parker; Corporal Arthur Tucker and Corporal Joshua Cooper. It was about 2AM of the 17th when we decided to sneak in form the forest on the far right of the hotel. There was only one person guarding it on that end behind a rock so I snuck in from between the right and middle sandbags and shot him unnoticed. I took the chance and snatched the MP5SD he had since I didn’t manage to get one before I departed. I checked my surroundings; no one was coming in this direction. We went to the parking lot after that. There was one guy guarding the entrance but I couldn’t get an angle to shoot him without getting seen; and that was when Marvin said to let him try to get closer and moved ahead. I tried to say quietly “No” but he went too close and the guy shot him. I rushed to him and killed the watch guy. Marvin had a bullet right in the middle of his forehead. He was already dead. I felt terrible. He couldn’t be over 21. He was just a kid, yet, War took his life mercilessly. I cried for him, all 3 of us did but I thought that I had to conquer this base, not only because I was ordered to but because he gave his life for it as well. So since there was nobody else on the parking lot we sneaked behind these buildings. There were about 5 people guarding the back so I decided to throw a grenade at them. 3 of them died, Joshua killed 1 and I killed the last one. We quickly hid behind the middle building and waited for a bit so that the guys in the front calmed down, when they finally did, after about an hour, I decided to try to “snipe” them all with my suppressed weapon. I asked both Arthur and Joshua to guard my back while I did that and Arthur had the guts to answer me like this while trying to do the right voice: “Roger Roger Sergeant Russell Russell”. The Lieutenant laughed, so hard that he fell out of the chair (possibly due to the effects of all the alcohol he drank, the joke’s not that funny). -Aaaah nice one. I have to… (Laugh) make a note of that and place it all over this place. That’s hilarious. – he said while trying to get up – Sorry I interrupted you. -Please don’t I had enough while I was at school, but as I was saying I started to peep in the spaces between the buildings killing one after another with shots and grenades until I took a steep too far in and one of them saw me. I shot him but he had already thrown a grenade. I yelled “Look out!” to the Corporals as I took cover but they noticed it too late, they both died with the explosion. I was shocked, I was the only one left, I felt awful; they died because of me. How could I have let this happen? I wasn’t even able to cry for their deaths since there was someone on the top left end, who tried to shoot me with an M240. One of the bullets actually scratched through my shoulder – Russell then shows his wound which Paul analyses thoroughly. -Well that was close – he affirmed had it been on your neck and you would’ve bleed to death. But *hic* why didn’t ask for backup? I bet there were at least 10 soldiers from the airport ready to come by and kick some ass. -The thought never crossed my mind actually, I was to emotionally struck to do that. -I see, continue then (he goes for his 4th beer in 10 minutes, what a drunkard) -Yes. After I got a place to cover I was able to shoot him and so I decided it was time to go after those sandbags on the left. I was able to throw the last grenade I had, which I took from Arthur’s dead body and killed 2 out of the 4 that were there. The others took cover in the sandbags but after a full clip I was able to kill them. There weren’t many left; about 5 that just came and were keeping watch on the front so I picked up a grenade that one of them had and tried to sneak behind the buildings once more. I killed 2 I think with that one and shot another 2 but the last one was able to get to cover. I noticed he decided to run around the building so I stood in the corner and waited for him. I could hear his footsteps, one after another, each one saying that he was getting closer, I readied my knife and I’m pretty sure he readied his as well. He knew exactly where I was and I knew his position as well. The moment he turned the corner he swings his knife, aiming for my neck, I ducked and stabbed him right on his chest. I tightened the grip and, with all the strength I had I tried to push the knife even deeper while I thought: “This is for my fallen comrades you grey a*****e”. He fell and only then I realized that they were all gone. I contacted HQ, buried my fellow companions and that’s it. Paul was having a tough time keeping his head up but he was listening. -That… was a *hic* great story. Hey, don’t you feel better now? Don’t you feel like partying a bit? -…You know, I guess I do. Pass me a beer … On the next morning they have a huge hangover.
